Well, my room feels cramped with a small desk and a computer on the floor gathering dust, so after looking at willudesign's desk case i was inspired. this is my first case mod, haven't ever really worked with tools either. so i'm trying to keep it extremely simple. so go a head and take a look and help me out with the questions ill have below. edited for faster loading of images below

trizero 1. can i put standoffs directly into the wood or will i need an aluminum tray in between the standoffs and wood I would place a motherboard tray in there. It would be much easier to use a tray because then you don't have to worry quite as much about all the geometry issues and getting everything to line up right. Plus, it would be a little more trick to get the standoffs to secure well in the wood directly. Consider bolting something like this in: This would provide you with the tray, expansion slots, and rear IO panel so that everything would line up correctly and be supported properly. Where can you get a tray? You can gut out an old PC case to gain access to the tray by cutting and drilling out rivets if necessary, or you can try to order a tray from a manufacturer such as Lian Li.

sorry shoulda clarified. i do have a cutout piece from an old case with expansion slots and the io panel from an old case, but the on the tray part the standoffs are like bolted into some of the wrong places for my p6t. i tried everything to get the out but it didnt work. i see your point about getting them in the wood though, so i think ill just buy a piece of aluminum and drill the holes. thank you ill have an update tommorow

A update, I'll probably have another this weekend, hopefully paint on the wood and aluminum. :) some painting i used krylon flat black aluminum sides middle fan holes My PSU Holder the nuts didnt twist on the screws so i used a buncha random nuts and washers holes for the expansion card screws, that way my screwdriver will fit without taking everything apart. still need to make them wider 5.25 bracket lovely NZXT Extension cables from PPC's. not very long but they look amazing the mobo tray setup. im drilling holes in the wood to glue the silver things in and then ill set the tray on them and finally the standoffs ill hold the tray the silver things together, easiest way i could do it since the standoffs arent selfthreading :( silver thing and tray some pics so far still have to order legs, plexiglass, and a low profile cpu cooler and make the exhaust fan holes, but 80mm is looking too big.

thanks all, it'll be finished around the 20th ikea doesn't want to ship till the 16th :( EDIT: i have two questions also when i glue the aluminum sides onto the wood, what kind of glue should i use? also where can i get adhesive grommets for the holes where psu cables will go through. the wood is about 3/4" thick so the grommets at pps don't look like they will work. thanks
