Ideally you want the intake to pull in fresh air and the top and rear to expel the hot air.

What case is it, and are you planning on air cooling or AIO-closed loop cooling your CPU etc?

Ideally, if it's a normal case (and not one with glass & gaps on the sides) you want to make sure you have slightly more intake pressure than exhaust, otherwise most of the time, you'll have exhaust fans that are removing air from the case before it ever has the chance to actually reach the components you're trying to cool.  Especially if you have a open-face air-cooled card, that can be a problem.

Depending on the case, and if it has dust filtration etc, that can have a pretty big impact on what setup will work best.

Some people will try to tell you positive, negative or neutral pressure, but the truth of the matter is, you really have to experiment & find what works best for your build.

I currently have 6 intake & 4 exhaust fans on my setup (it's a huge case) with 2 of those "exhausts" being through a CPU radiator, the rear exhaust fan I have on a lower speed, as well as the exhaust fan I have down near the GPU at a medium speed.  I also have a dedicated fan over my RAM to make sure it stays cool since I'm running it overclocked with a bit more voltage than it runs stock.  All of my intakes are through dust filtration, which is part of why I have 2 more intake than exhaust.

Assuming you're upgrading to a CPU AIO cooler, I'd top mount that, either intake or exhaust.  Then good strong front fans.  If you want you can get a Kraken G12 GPU cooler and AIO (240 or 280), I'd front mount that.

Worst thing you can do with an air cooled GPU is use a front mount AIO, it chokes off air flow.

Best to just play around with different configuration while performing benchmark testing.

It's been said having more airflow with intake compared to exhaust prevents dust from small holes in the case and your case looks like it has more output than input fan locations. Might want to change up fans configuration (or their speeds) so that intake has more airflow than exhaust. You also need to make sure intake filter in installed if you care about dust prevention.

well the new 710i i have has 3 120mm in front and 1 140mm in back and can hold 3 on top,ive thought about going two 140mm in front for intake and two 140mm on top for intake and one 140mm in rear for exhaust. and im think i want some nice rgb fans just dont know which ones because some have great prices and some are evpensive so i dont know which ones to get.

thanks for reply im going 3 antec 120mm rgb front intake and 3 antec 12mm rgb top intake and 1 antec 140mm rgb rear exhaust and go from there, have not had any temp issues but wanted a case with more cooling options so ill be able to make changes if needed. but it will be colorful.

this is generally always the optimum airflow path when using fans .... heat rises , so don't try to over-complicate it

thanks for reply so if i have 3 front intake can i do 1 top intake toward ram and then 2 other top exhaust and then i would have the 140 rear exhaust

I like the new Fractal Meshify 2 XL, load it up with Quality fans. Then you will have amazing airflow. Heat rising does not seem to matter as you could change the orientation of a bottom to top case like the SilverStone Raven series, put the case on its side, and the fans have enough air flow pressure to make heat rising a mute point. That said I would do anything super crazy, just air in and air out in a straight or diagonal path.
