first off, the audio build -
build log source 1http://montecarloforum.com/forum/interior-audio-visual-electronics-11/2004-silver-bullet-monte-carlo-sq-build-31461/
Build log source 2 http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/build-logs-project-install-gallery/115361-2004-silver-bullet-monte-carlo-sq-build.html

so the gear we're looking at -

~ Helix C DSP Digital Sound Processor

~ ZED Audio Leviathan 6 channel amp 6x230 watts RMS

~ ZED Audio Minitour single channel 1000x1 watts RMS

~ Hybrid Audio L4SE

~ Hybrid Audio L1R2 Ring radiator tweeters

~ Hybrid Audio L8V1 9" woofers

~ FI IB318 (2x) 18" infinite Baffle sub's (500 watts to each)

that's right, you read it right, car computer. this is the layout, it's running me roughly 1300$ in the end for the screen, perifials and software I need, it's over 300$ (used) for the parts i needed just for the car, and that only is some software, the case, a tiny power supply 160 watts, and a GPS antena with the GPS software from garmin.

let's get started on the layout, the gear -

the screen
http://store.mp3car.com/Preassembled_Black_Double_Din_LCD_Frame_with_7_Li_p/mon-125.htm

the case - this isn't the exact one i got, i coudln't find the one the that i got from the guy I bouyght some of my stuff from, didnt really care to look to much into it, gonna be mounted under my rear deck where my stock amp used to be upside down, decent air around it. so shoud work quite nicley, cabling through the car is my problem.
http://www.logicsupply.com/products/mv101

secondary interface device, will store this in my center console, i will be trying to do a slide out tray for it. picked one up on amazon for 25$ can't beat that  better than the 130$ logitech, which would of been ideal for the setup, but you gatta compromise. this is a handy unit.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823852003

I did allota research, and this gear was very well thought out, this system is designed to be fast booting, with low power consumtion but blazing fast, this drive allowed me to not be forced to use raid, I will show you the motherboard I upgraded to because it had sata III, so tha ti could fully utalize the speeds of this drive. of course 2 sata II drives may still be faster at 270\ms read a piece, It's less power, more space, and just keeping it simple
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139599

the motherboard, I was gonna use the older version, with SO-DIMM slots, but this one had the sata III, as well as USB 3.0, AND  AMD hybrid AMU system, a  GPU\CPU system, it's a new tech AMD is working on that they just released. it's essentially a video card in a CPU, using the chip-set and ram as it's support rather than it;s own dedicated amp, although increasing heat, and power consumption, its still an incredible efficient CPU, and will work well with the special software I'll be running, as I wont have the windows interface as my interface on the screen, i'll have special software.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131789

the AMU (processor) like i said, it's a hybrid GPU\CPU in one, using a special chipset and system that AMD has come up with. it's a fairly decent video package, ive heard people claim to do BF BC3 on mediaum\low with no hickups or issues.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103942

the ram, simple 8 gb DDR3 1866 dual channel ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104264

the cd rom, i'll go over what i'm doing with this at the end of this.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118051

the audio card, i went external for the cleaner up sampling, gonna run straight optic out of it to my cars sound processor.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102019

the Power supply
http://www.mini-box.com/M2-ATX-160w-Intelligent-Automotive-DC-DC-Power-Supply

the Radio interface
http://store.mp3car.com/Mp3Car_BoomzBox_HD_Radio_USB_Controlled_AM_FM_Tune_p/com-109.htm

alright boys, this is the gear. ALL of the gear i've listed is currently on it's way to me as we speak.

some other things we'll be working with, the setup of the build is pretty complex, and this isn't any simpler.

alright, now on to some logic, as talked about, the computer it's self will be mounted behind the back seat under the rear deck in the stock amp location, mounted upside down. wires ran down the center of the car, directly to the dash. also, the HDD will have an external power, as well as the DVD rom slide drive.

their are a few things i'm sitll unsure of, I need to figure out a way to get my DVD rom drive to get power from the 12v from the car's rail, convert it to 5v onto a sata power harness and power that, also need the same thing for the HDD that'll store the music, and everything, so if anybody has any ideas on how to achieve this i'm listening.

I'll be mounting the DVD rom sliding drive under my dash, on the bottom below the climent controls, i'll fiberglass and refinish the whole piece.

I have a A6 chip in my home server.  Love it.  That A8 chip should do very well.  BTW, looks like this thread will probably get moved because it is a build log.  Should be in Mods Rigs.  Look forward to seeing the finish product.

    alright one more try!

and this was a HUGE surprise, a very well designed media remote with full keyboard, and oldstyle mouse stylist, it's very confy, the full keyboard is 9 keys wide rather than 10 so things are moved a little but im an extemley good typer and it doesnt take much for me to adjust where the keys are. i of course type slower but other than that, its an exceptional plus for this package, id of even spent 140$ with out that and the wifi, so asus really did this bored good :)

also, their will be a back up camera, i'll tying into my revser light rather than digging into my harness under my steering colum, id rather not get into that, the reverse light turns on when the reverse is engaged, theirfore it can turn on my back up camera. the screen has a build in wire designed spacificly to switch inputs to the RCA jack for the back up camera when it's got voltage.

FINILY. damn my mouth giot me in trouble again :( anyways. the computers been built. MANY things have been worked out since m y last update here. i was just twekaing on it now acualy, installing the 2nd hard drive and some playing with the bios. MAN do i love these new gui bios. holy cow are they easy to work, i dont like the control this bored has though, its kind idiot proofe i suppose not for somebody with my knowlage base im sure :) but is still had enough tweaks that i could do some things, it let me change the post timmer! i was able to get it down as low as .5 secondS which is perfect for my build, gonna suck if i ever need to get into bios lol but its really like 1.5 seconds. so its plenty of time to get serveral key strokes in

enough talk! pictures talk more :)

    first, the build ---

    the install-------

    the programing

    and the speeds

i have changed some things. i'm not gonna run the processing internaly for my sound system, with some custom software.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829121011&Tpk=Delta%201010LT%20-%2010-In%2f10-Out%20PCI%20Virtual%20Studio

its a very nice card, nothing being made like it anymore. its a dying breed. 8 ints, 8 outs, 2 mic outs via midi's or some form, not sure of the format, but i'll be running my RTA mic off of it, through a hardline i'll run through my car off of it. it's gonna be very nice :)

and for the interface, i have this plans for this nice little screen -

    http://xenarc.com/product/MDT-X7000.html

so that will be the monitor i have in the end, its a very technical unit! best on the market or was till they discontinued it, they still service them, warrentys are transferible and i'm on the hunt for one.

utill than, i found this unit -

    http://xenarc.com/product/700IDT.html

I'll be oding this mod to it -

instructions on how to do so can be found over here -

    http://www.mp3car.com/the-faq-emporium/74201-faq-how-to-install-a-dvd-r-rw-in-your-xenarc-700idt.html

i'll be using a slide load style drive, but it'll be nice. it should look pretty stock aftermarket when i'm done. it's kind of a sleezy cheap way of doing it, but it'll work for now till i find one. i found the flip out display on ebay from a gentlman who was testing the screens on abram tanks  you can't go wrong with that.

and after some playing around, i learned the first 2tb hd i got acualy wasn't a DOA. but that toshiba apparently doesn't format their hard drives to ntfs or anything acualy at all.  once i found it in bio's and device manager, i went to disk managment and found it with no format. so i formated it and named it and got it all set up. loving it :D

and this is the final new setup. mind you a change in amps :)

their is allot of work im doing that isn't really exciting or worth posting. their are soooooooooooooooooooooooo many ways to do this though, ive been doing gobs of research my self, tons of reading. nothing really fun about that part. but you can do so many things. BUT have an idea you might find apealing. check this unit out -

    http://www.shop.thecartis...ystem-ELER06UPC898.htm

yes, this is what it looks like. it;'s a computer in a single dinn. now, it probobly only has a finate amount of memory. probobly only a 1gb system, and the hard drive is probobly a solid state device, probobly a micro sata style. now, with some crafty modding, one should be able to get inside of this and find a sata port, and run it externaly. than you just need a 12v (from your car) and you need to create a 5v rail, because hard drives want 12v and 5v's. mp3car.com will have some small converters for something like that.

what i'm doing is on the very high end of the standard setup. i am more than happy to help anybody  with this something like this, but i can't hold your hand the whole way.

I should have something soon. i'm hoping to close a deal on the last amp i need and tha i can start working on the trunk and get a false floor in their, and spots for the the gear, i need to install the screen, and run cables. gonna install a USB somewhere in my dash, so i need to pick up some cables to rout through my car, vga, usb, and rca's i'll be needing. so i have like 150$ just in cabling for this project, and it would be probobly 250$ if i had to run all new back bones.
gonna be picking up the sound card soon, and than the software. gonna take me a month easy to learn the topalagy in the software and how to configure plugsins for cross overs, eq's and time delays., its gonn be a much much more complex tune.

just been working on tweaking everything. finily got the software working, got the new video card because the screen i ended up with was analog and i needed an analog out, the motherboard was only digital sadly :( so i'm back to external procesisng. could of gone with intenral, and switched motherboard, and cpu but the marker just isn't their to resell this stuff so i opted another path, plus i prefer a unit with software designed for user friendly and plus theirs no booting overhead added for the plugins and software to laod before sound will come, so it's a smoother setup.

sorry don't know how to insert videos :(

heres the latest topology with some specs printed (printed the specs for a guy who's designing my trunk.)

here's the front end wiring, i'll be using this industrial USB hub that has a dc voltage regulator built in (Rather than use another external regulator) this is the most streamline setup that allowed me to run only ONE usb cable from the computer, the bandwith will be shared for the USB hub on the bottom right with the DVD rom that'll take out of it's shell and mount into the flip out displays DINN. which i'll show you in a min.

i'll be mounting the dvd burner much like this, i didn't go with a slot style like i origonaly planned just because of the noise issue.

OR, i could power it like this, i need to find out if the current of that hub can support the DVD rom, i expect it wants at least 15 watts, looks like it wants 16 gauge wire, that should be plenty of power.
