Jacob or anyone, why does EVGA refuse to place the PCIe 1.0 slot first? Is there a technical reasoning behind this? It's always in the middle or somewhere between the PCIE 3.0 slots and preventing me from using my sound card while SLI'ng. It's the main reason I can never buy the EVGA FTW mobo =/ - Classy's would work but any mobo past $250 is when dr kicks in IMO. Sucks because I really like the look of the board. Guess it will be either the ASUS Formula or MSI GD65

You can put a 1x card in a 16x slot just fine. Not really sure what the issue is.

^ loveha - Unless I'm misjudging it...If you look at the FTW board....where exactly will you place it if you have two 780's? 1st one is obvious but it will take away the 2nd slot...2nd 780 goes in 3rd slot which overtakes the PCIe1.0 and last PCIE 3 slot? Like I said I could be misjudging it but that definitely looks like the case with this board

See your point. Was not looking at the board because I skipped waiting on EVGA. I think it is a marketing ploy to get you to go to the Classified model.

^ Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking. I don't know why they do that with that expansion slot. It's like they think people don't have sound cards or other cards that they would like to use :(

I could be misjudging it, but it looks like you could put sound card in 2nd or 5th slot. The space between 1st & 2nd slot and 2nd & 3rd slot is wide

^ Wolf would mind posting a screenie of that? That would help immensely as I would be able to actually see the spacing. I always like to have my cards staggered as to them not breathing on top of one another. It seems like you have the set up I would be aiming for - Thanks!

GameFX It's like they think people don't have sound cards or other cards that they would like to use Closer to the truth, just don't take it personal. All companies have their own statistics to draw on for researching what features customers demand for certain products prior to making them, they will always aim at the majority to net the most sales. The only real bet is that over time demand can change, and EVGA has been doing this for years, so they have that data too. In other words, maybe they determined the majority of their intended customers "don't have sound cards or other cards that they would like to use"; making folks like yourself a negligible loss for them that you shouldn't loose sleep over. That being said, you can either get creative or just choose another board or brand that allows the configuration you want. Don't sacrifice your preferences just to follow a brand which requires you to follow the majority's line of thinking, i.e. status quo. I don't see the point for brand loyalty, period. EVGA isn't going to change their board designs for the handful of customers who's preferences were ignored at the preliminary stage of design, it is that simple.

Ok for the record Sli will not work in the 1 & 3 slots. It must be in the 1 & 2 slots! Pay no attention to my previous response with pics.

The Slot 1 and slot 2 are the pci express x16 or One x16 and other x8 ? EDIT01: http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2056456First slot is 16/8/4, Second slot is 8/4. Slot 3 shows as a x4 only.

For 4 dual slot graphics cards to fit an x16 must but the first slot.
