The shroud for the caps is held in place by the heat sink. The cover for the red text is just screwed on.

Very clean with the blacked out badging, can you tell me how your temps are with that cpu block mounted that way? The manual for ekwb only shows it mounted side ways... not sure why... I have the same block.

Just test fitting for looks, all may change. Orientation shouldn't matter.

Lookin good! Looking forward to temps as well. I also don’t think orientation will matter. I’ve been water cooling since the early 2000s, and I’ve never heard of the block’s orientation affect temps. Only time it’s ever a consideration is when chips on the MB get in the way. I’m no fluid dynamics engineer, but I doubt it would make a difference due to the small area.

I just seen an EK video going over the installation of these blocks and your right he said orientation shouldn't matter, I wish the manual would have said that. I think I would have preferred the way you mounted yours.

Got a notify for a 3090FTW ultra today but can't use it as I got an 3090 back in Nov 2020 for my 10900K rig. It is truly a once in a life time purchase. So I guess it will be on-chip graphics only on this build.

New I/O panel. I love creating things that didn't exist before. https://imgur.com/NU6fvHN Sorry, I can't figure out how to post photos here. How to add photos to the gallery? Imgur links won't work. What is the point of a build thread if you can't post pictures easily? Too many constrains and dependencies......

In imgur you need to select the image and choose DIRECT LINK. Once copied choose the insert/edit image icon in the quick reply window (below where it says font size). Copy the link there and then click INSERT.

Thanks for answering. That is what I am doing. It does not work. In IMGUR you can copy a link to a picture and that is the only link you can insert here. All the other share options from Imgur also will not work.

Let the fun begin. Obviously, a key part is still missing and thus the tubing will change. Just running the 12900K at 5.2 GHz and DDR5 at 5600 MHz with XMP1, I get a Cinebench 23 score of 27716 out of the Box. https://imgur.com/8SyGO3S

5.3GHz no problem. Not even changing anything dramatically. Cinebench R23 10 minutes 28657. My old 10900K with 3600 DDR4 at 5.2 Ghz only gets to 18400. Addition: Vcore target voltage set to 1.44 V to get it stable though. 345 W

What are your temps cycling r23 for 30 mins? In otherwords peak temperatures? I like the enthusiast level of EVGA boards, but damn they are ugly but well designed.

Say you were to drop your OC to 5.1/4.1, what voltage/temps would you get? 345 watts is insane tbh I had to make a similar decision to down my overclock some. Also the orientation of your block has some performance hit stated by EK, apparently its small but still a hit. I dropped my OC to 5.2 on 2 cores and 5.1 on the rest and 4.1 on e cores and my r23 score after a 30 min loop was 29020 and actually a higher score than my 5.2 all core O.C. Probably due to peak temp being 85c.

Thank you that gives some perspective. The fun just started, I will play around for sure with orientation of the block. Didn't touch the E cores yet They are on 3.7 to 3.9. All P cores are on 5.3. I may indeed had some throttling. Just amazed that 5.3 is stable.

I got 29632 in R23 10 minutes with all P cores 5.2 and E core 1-4 4.3 E core 5-8 4.2 Ring 4.3. Temps are 97-99 on the P cores, 83 on the E cores. Package Max power 347.36 W, IA cores 338.94 though. That seems to be the limit right now anything higher Cinebench crashes but not the system.
