Will be building with Z370 ftw using samsung 960 evo for boot. Installing win 10 64. Using oem disk, Asus dvd writer. What is a known good load procedure to use? Thanks in advance.

Read his post, looks like same question. I am new to these drives and setting them up for a fresh load.

Well that is my Thread; "new to these drives" Me too! I installed the OS with only my samsung 960 evo installed as my boot drive and used the Graphics Port on the Motherboard. After the OS was Installed and Updated with all the Patches I then ran the DVD and let it auto install all the drivers and DID reboot when asked. Ran Windows Update One more time and then I install my GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid Card and Disabled the Motherboard Graphics. After installing the NVIDIA Graphics and PhysX Drivers I then installed the rest of my SSD Drives and Hard Drives. Done

So you had no problem selecting nvme as boot drive, and loading windows with oem dvd? Not sure the z370 ftw has onboard graphics port, should be receiving it and 1080sc today. Plan is to build this thing Thursday. I have been reading that you have to use usb flash thumb drive to load os, I hope that's not the case since I already have the 64 bit home oem disk. I don't see why you couldn't unless you have to disable all sata ports for install, and to my understanding m2.2 only takes up sata 0 and 1.

Correct Not sure the z370 ftw has onboard graphics port? Based on CPU. I had no issues using my SATA Based BluRay/DVD to install the OS. Users who have posted you can only use a USB Flash Drive do not know what they are doing. "understanding m2.2 only takes up sata 0 and 1." Yes and No, how many M.2 Devices are you going to install? I used the low Port2 because I did not want my drive under the GPU, and with your SC your should do the Same because you Card will Blow Hot Air on the M.2 Device installed below it. I did use Both Thermal Pads under my M.2 SSD Drive.

So the evo will be my only drive installed, will be in top socket behind video card. Hoping the video card will help cool it. Thanks for giving some relief a out using dvd to install. Appreciate your help.

That CPU has a Intel® UHD Graphics 630 so your MB will have Graphics (Not into looking pretty) This is how I am. So the evo will be my only drive installed, will be in top socket behind video card. Hoping the video card will help cool it. The GPU will be Blowing the Hot Air from its own Cooler Down on top of the EVO so not sure that will really keep it cooler. My EVO on the Top is only Lukewarm on my finger tip.

I am running my Torcher Test ATM or better said running Primegrid on the CPU and GPU at Full Load or Power. I want to see how low I can take the vCore down. It defaults @ 1.368 @ 47 and that seem really high. I have it set in Adaptive Mode with 1.230 + 20 Adaptive. Room Temperature is 63F or 17.22C Link to my Bios Settings

You can always move it if it seems too hot ( not see mine got over 90F in the top slot --The EVGA 1080 Ti three fan card above it-- but I do have M.2 in both slots in another board the EVGA Z270 classified K version. some of us did have a small problem with the mounting screw for a M.2 unit on the classified K board - cosmetic only Intel does have their own tookkit if for some reason you need the latest drivers- I only had to do that for the Z270 build using M.2 My Z370 install using M.2 Samsung pro only was very smooth ( except for my very SLOW USB powered dvd drive )

Build went very well. Don't know if my board is different or not, but by installing the nvme in the bottom socket, it disabled sata 0/1. First boot didn't go well without the cup power cord plugged in, lol. That location at the top left is a terrible placement. Booted and loaded win 10 from Asus dvd in sata 2 port no problem at all. Used onboard video for system install, then loaded mother board drivers from evga disk. Loaded latest drivers from samsung for nvme. Installed 1080sc and installed drivers from CD. Went into bios set xmp. All I can say about this build is WOW. 3.3G read, 2.1 writes, 6 sec cold boot times. Beautiful graphics, eats any games I play with no problem. Thank you for your help and advise, and thank you evga for a great product . Job well done!

Did you remember to disable the other M.2 Ports in the Bios? The CPU Power Connector has always been at the Top of the Motherboard A Standard MB that is. Their are Proprietary Motherboards made as well from like Dell and HP and they put the connectors all over the place. The only Motherboards that I know that they are not on the top are Server Motherboards.

Yes they are disabled, I guess if you are using a water block then it's not a problem. With my air coolmaster installed, it was a pain getting it plugged in. You are correct, been about 5 years since my last build.
