Hey guys, I installed "Windows 8 Professional (64bit)" few days ago but I still don't have drivers for some devices: - PCI Simple Communications Controller - SAS Controller I tried to fix it by installing "Chipset drivers" that i had on "Windows 7 Ultimate" and also the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise" driver but the result is that after I can't boot in Windows! Is there already some compatible drivers? Thanks in advance. :)

The PCI controller goes away with Intel ME installed. The SAS is normal - Intel removed it from the spec.

There are drivers available but as far as I am aware EVGA doesn't list them because the features are not fully enabled. You can enable these if you wish but that will simply get rid of the yellow exclamation marks and doesn't provide any new features and also subtracts some resources from the PCI lanes allotment. If you wish to install the drivers I will tell you how to do this but this method is ***NOT supported by EVGA: ***1: http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1747690*** 2: Install Intel ME as Matt as recommended. This can be found on the drivers download portion of the EVGA website. If you still have it after you restart the PC let me know.

It is available for anyone who has a tech net subscription. If they don't then it is an illegal copy.

But since Win 8 isn't worldwide available officially yet, doesn't that mean EVGA doesn't officially support anything until then?

Official release of Windows 8 is next Friday and I've got a copy on order. If I see anything out of the ordinary when I upgrade I'll let everyone know in the Windows section of the forums.

Go to the EVGA download site. Search for the X79 category and your particular motherboard from the drop down list. Choose Intel ME from the list.

I installed that driver and now I haven't the yellow checkmark about the SAS Controller anymore :) The only thing that remains is the "PCI Simple Communications Controller", Has already been released a newer version of "Intel ME" for this board? And when EVGA will update its drivers for Windows 8? Thanks in advance!

Download both from EVGA's web site. BTW most x64 7 dirvers do seem to work on Windows 8 x64, Win 8 will tell when not. Bill

I'm not gonna lie- it is a steep learning curve, but once you get past the crap that is Metro(city), Windows 8 isn't half as bad as I once thought. Knowing the short cuts helps immensely (such as Windows+X on the desktop to access the power menus and settings us system builders know and love), and remember - forums and Google are your best friends for fixing nearly anything. Yeah Windows 8 has the Marvell network drivers & Asmedia USB3 drivers. Very stable drivers as I been using them since Friday without an issue too.

Any of you guys having an issue with BF3 textures loading up ? In Windows 7 they loaded up pretty quick. With 8, it looks like there is a pretty big delay. My FPS have dropped by 34 FPS on my heaven benchmark score. I read reviews, that Windows 8 was going to be better at this, but I am not seeing it yet. Drivers need to mature better I assume? I'm considering reverting back to Windows 7, because I mostly play games, run benchmarks, and fold. So far, Windows 8 looks very good........ .........on a tablet or touchscreen laptop. I did a fresh install of Windows 8 and downloading everything new from scratch, hopefully ruling out any possibility of something not installing right. Unfortunately, my results aren't as good as I hoped they would be. I have messed around with the Nvidia control panel Turned on adaptive power mode, and maximum performance. Did not see a difference really.

I'm trying to go the $39 upgrade route and keep getting stuck on the splash screen after the first reboot (installation is not yet finished at this point). I know, I hate upgrades too, but the price seemed like a good deal at the time. Anyone been able to get the upgrade to work? EDIT: Never mind - got it going with a clean install and the advice in this thrwad - thanks guys! Don't know why I thought they might have improved their upgrade procedures...

Reverted back to win 7. The download speeds are capped on win 8 for some odd reason.

There is no "Aero" to turn off in Windows 8 For a GTX 590, I would suggest setting the BF3 in-game "Texture Quality" setting to HIGH and keeping MSAA OFF (use the FXAA on HIGH instead) I have a BF3 Guide sticky in the Gaming section If you would like further help with any BF3 problems or questions, please post them there

No luck trying to install Windows 8 here. Tried a clean install and it just keeps going to a black screen after the first reboot. I let it set for 30 minutes but it never moved. Thinking it might be a video card issue, I changed it out too. That got me a little farther, but as soon as I enter the name for the PC, screen goes black again. Thank god for Acronis True Image!! Back to WIn 7, maybe I'll try installing on a different system.
