My Evga logo is flashing red on my X79 FTW. As soon as my psu is switched on to standby it flashes and continues throughout  operation. The only time it stops flashing is when I turn off the psu.
Any help or reasons why this is happening I'd appreciate it. Its a 2nd hand board and don't know the history of it. I just know its always done it while ive owned it. It seems to operate fine in windows without any codes. The Known problems I have are one of the 16x/8x pcie slot isn't working. Also,  I cant flash bios at all. Stuck at 047. Using Windows or Dos. It just freezing up everything. I have to power cycle it back into windows.  Evga support is sending me out a bios chip to see if that works for bios issues.
Thanks

Hello thealiashugg and welcome to the Forums!

I have seen similar issues with failing power supplies in the past. How old is your PSU? I recommend testing this motherboard with another PSU or using a multimeter/voltmeter to check the voltages to see if they are stable and within range.

The flashing issue should be resolved with the replacement BIOS chip.

If you have a moment, please rate my service. We appreciate the feedback!

Hi, I have the X79 FTW in one of my computers and if I remember properly it is normal the blinking LED behavior of the EVGA logo, I assume is made to save just a bit of energy

In the BIOS, go to the Advanced settings, then ACPI settings and see if there's a setting in there called EUP Control or ErP Mode or something to that effect (pretty sure there is on that board), and Enable that if it is Disabled (Disabled is default)..Save & Exit..Then see if the EVGA Logo stops flashing..EUP means Energy Using Product and ErP means Energy-related Products..EUP/Erp Mode is the lowest power state the mobo will be in when in Standby..EUP/Erp Mode also turns off lighted keyboards, lighted mice, external HDDs and other accessories that may remain on if it is set to Disabled..EUP/Erp Mode has been a 'problem' for others.

Ive enabled EUP it but the blinking is still consistent. It's more of a consistent pulse really.

I wouldn't think so, but it may be normal then like tonschk said..There's a lot of others around here with that board who will probably chime in sooner or later about it.

Also happens if you are on Water and no connector on the CPU Fan Header.

When I had this problem in the past it turned out to be a defective fan. Took me forever to find the problem. Reseat every single connector you have on the motherboard.
