Hello to all. I have a X58 SLI Motherboard that is about 4 years old. 132-BL-E758 (not sure of the suffix) with an i7 920 at 2.67GHz I have 6gb of triple channel memory and would like to install more memory. However, depending on what I read in the manual, it says the max memory my board can "Officially" handle is 12gb. But in another place I read that it can take 24gb. I am running the latest BIOS. Any one know for sure? THANKS!

I belive there were two revisions one green and black with blue pcie, one gray and black? So It might make a diferance which revision you have.

Well 12GB is what EVGA stated on the website but Corsair has tested both 16GB and 32GB module sets successfully on that motherboard. However the sets they tested were running at 1.5 volts. If you need that much memory I suggest that you do NOT overclock the memory and set the memory timings manually. Otherwise you will put an undue strain on the CPU memory controller.

you should be fine with 24gb that is 6x4gb modules i run 24gb mushkin ram at 1800mhz. im sure there are plenty of people who run 24gb on x58 boards. The reason it states 12gb cause at the time there was no 4gb ram around. I know a person on this forums successfully ran 48gb on this chipset (not overclocked though). Good luck

OK, discovered I have the 132-BL-E758-TR Motherboard. So it looks like I can go past the 12gb limit. Wanted to upgrade to 24gb if possible, but didn't want to go that route if it wasn't going to work. Thanks for the information everyone!

I have the X58 FTW3 and recently upgraded to 24gb, runs flawlessly at 4.2ghz on an i7 920. Should work fine on your board too.

I have the E758 and have 24 GB of Corsair Vengeance memory in it. model: CMZ12GX3M3A1600C9 I found that you have to bump the voltage to 1.65 I think because of a unique thing with that specific model and this specific model of motherboard. It's been rock solid so far. I did try putting 48 (6 x 8 GB) chips in. Each slot would see the full 8GB sticks in any slot, but not all at the same time. All together it would never see more than 24 GB when I put 4 or more sticks in. I've read of some people getting it to use all 48, I think it just depends on if you're lucky enough to get a stronger v reg or whatever.

There weren't any difference between AR and TR products, as well as the Black/Grey color scheme boards were the same as the previous, just due to the overwhelming response we got from the looks of the X58 LE (E757) that we released the next run with a similar color scheme. That being said initially I believe we stated 12gb as there were no other low voltage DIMMs out there. Within a few months of release (exact time frame slips my mind as it was a few years ago) the support was updated to 24gb. Now there were BIOS updates necessary for that, but all of our X58 line will support 6x4 memory config. There have been some who have managed to stabilize 48gb, but the IMC was never meant for it, from the 920 C0 to the 990x they are all officially 24gb procs. Procs all had IMC's and at some level, it really is luck of the draw, sometimes you get a weak memory controller, my personal 930 has a weak memory controller, I have had to volt it to run 12gb..... Also, in regards to Vengeance, I have seen that before as well, that in many cases all the stability issue with it was resolved by changing the voltage to 1.65, obviously that is not set in stone as how to run it, but I have seen that fix oddities before. In the end 24gb will likely work fine, might not be able to clock it as well as you like, and latency will also likely increase, especially if it takes you 2 kits of ram to make your 24gb. 48gb is hit and miss no matter how you slice it, and is not officially supported.

Yah with the Vengeance thing I had battled crashes for about a year and just thought it was my VREG getting to hot when doing heavy rendering work. After I found the info on 1.65 V it's been rock solid as far as that goes.

I have the E758-TR 3-Way SLI and just ordered this: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 24GB (6 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T2-24GBRL I'm crossing my fingers that this will plug in and just run solid. I'm not interested in overclocking it as I just don't have the cooling setup I'd like, but I am running into serious issues with Adobe Premiere and large scale video projects on the measly 6GB of Patriot memory I have currently. I've slowly become more involved in video and photography production, and this board has been a freakin' rock since I picked it up in 2009. EVGA, you make some incredible stuff. Thanks.

if you use a xeon chip (which has a much higher max ram support in its IMC) will the board support more?

I am only interested in how will this affect games. (2ch vs 3ch). Primary reason for me buying more mem is Skyrim. Right now game works great but in about an hour of playing mem usage goes to 90% and it starts to affect performance.

I strongly suggest keeping the tri-channel memory sets and the sets of 12GB or higher should be more than enough for almost all gaming needs

It can run 24GB's just fine, I ran 6x4GB sticks @ 2200MHz on my Classified 4-Way SLI which is practically the same board just with more features.

Maximum memory does not mean maximum performance. There is a sweet spot. I have found that 12 gigs is it on my x58 980x at 4.5ghz. The more memory you put in the slower the timings and actual speed. I can achieve 7 8 7 20 2000 with 6 gigs. 12 gigs I get 8 8 8 24 1866. 24 I get 10 9 9 27 1600. You might use more virtual memory with less ram but it ends being faster in the long run especially if you have a fast ssd.
