I want to check the CMOS battery, to make sure it is installed and seated correctly. I can't see how to get at it. It is under a plastic shield, and I don't see a clear way to remove that. I hate to just start removing screws and tugging on things. I searched for a procedure, but don't find it in the manual or in this forum using search string "how to replace CMOS battery".

Does anyone have the procedure or know where it can be found?

TIA

You have to remove the Screws on the Back Side of the Motherboard Before you install in into a case.
Lift the side where the Fan is enough to slid out the old batter and put in a new one.
You do not need to remove the screws under the I/O Back Panel. See Image C on page 45.
See Page 43 in the Manual to remove it, while you have it off you can also install any M.2 NVMe Drives.

A few motherboards now days hide the battery behind a plastic cover. My Asus motherboard is the same way but on the bright side the battery lasts several years so probably changing it will come up once.

Thanks for the info. I like knowing how someone else did it before I start taking things apart. I am accustomed to manuals that spell these things out. These consumer products are not documented very well.

EVGA sure makes battery replacement inconvenient.

As far as I know only the X299 Dark is this way.
