Scarlet-Tech The hydrocopper was just featured in a video, and it looks to be an FTW3 size PCB.
Do you have a link or any info, Scarlet? Thanks!!

I think it is just a "placeholder" on the 1080Ti page with the "auto notify" button. I was wondering myself and never seen an actual "add to cart button" available since it had been posted. <sarcasm on> So I added myself to the "auto notify" for when it is actually available and sold out before I get the notification I can buy one or 2. <sarcasm off>

I don't think they had any FTW3 HC stock, I checked minutes after it went up. Still holding out to see what the Kingpin looks like.

At this rate, probably. I'll never forget the burning sensation I got when I went with a GTX 780 and the 780 Ti's came out less than 4 months but just enough after my 90 day step up window. Still got sore marks from that experience.

So what to go for? Won't a GTX 2080 be superior to the 1080 Ti Kingpin?

If you see something you want, you have to buy it in the electronics world. You will get buyers remorse right after buying, because something new will come out. If you are looking to buy now, go with the FTW3. The K|ngp|n may be released soon, but you will continue to wait until stock is available, which could be a long time.

Sounds reasonable. Just wondering if the cherry picking of PCB for the Kingpin has already started and if, in that case, the FTW's may not be as OC friendly because the good stuff is reserved. My current 980 FTW's are almost not at all OC-able. I can go 20 MHz higher then they become instable. With the Kingpinit looks like the temps alone are the limit - getting to 2400 MHz via ln2. With the Hydro Copper I'd hope to be able to do way more OC than with the 980's. And regarding that I'm unsure if FTW is the way to go or only Kingpin.

A couple variables at stake. Might need better cooling or in most cases, more voltage. Bump the voltage as you go but obviously you won't be able to get too high. As far as the Kingpin GPU is concerned, the PCB's are custom designed by world reknown OCer Kingpin. He uses LN2 and likes to shatter world records. The GPU on the Kingpin will OC better than the rest of the line up but not sure how high. Some reference GPU's can and possibly catch up to the Kingpin but that's a lotto risk you're will to take going cheaper than the hefty premium GPU which pretty much guarantees you a higher clock than the rest of tghe bunch but again, not sure how high. Could be 50hz for all we know. These cards are more for show, looks, benchmarking, custom and extreme cooling.

Yeh, fiddling with voltage didn't help there. But thanks for your explanation. I'm tending toward going with the FTW now.

I didn't realize the Hydro FTW had a different power/VRM setup. EVGA really needs to advertise / photograph that stuff, I might've upgraded to the FTW Hydro if there is more hiding under the block. I only saw the paltry ~25mhz clock difference and laughed because it seemed like such a bad deal.
Have water, will cool.
