I just received my 3080 ftw3 ultra and ran 3dmark for the first time. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/52670968 As you can see my score is 13226 overall and 16372 for GPU. Everything is running stock. My specs: Z370 gaming plus Mobo PSU EVGA 750W GQ FTW3 3080 Ultra gaming I7-8700k Stock speeds 16GB RAM Running latest Nvidia driver.

How is the GPU connected to the PSU? The GPU throttled down to 1900MHz, could be case cooling. Your stock 8700K isn't helping either.

The GPU has 3 separate 6+2 PINs connected. 2 of those 6+2 are regular wires and one of the 6+2 is a Y one where there are two separate 6+2 connectors. So one 6+2 is hanging out but all 3 of the 6+2 ports on the GPU are connected to 3 separate wires. I didn't think a stock 8700k would bottleneck the card. I didn't see the temps get hot when playing games but I will try running it while monitoring temps. The other thing that it might be is my DDR4 memory is at @ 2,132 MHz.

Slow memory speeds are helping either. OC the CPU and enable XMP. Also set the aggressive fan curve in PX1.

So after enabling XMP my new score is https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/52674046 14780 with a GPU score of 18 067. The temps never went higher than like 66 degrees C according to GPU-Z. I am guessing that the 8700k being stock and the ram not being 3200mhz is probably why I am not getting 15000? I guess the card looks normal?

Yes. The overall Time Spy score is affected a good deal by CPU/RAM speed. But the GPU score increase that you saw just by enabling XMP shows how fast GPUs can be limited by older or non-OCed CPUs/RAM. (XMP is technically a RAM overclock, since it's running faster than the JDEC standard (which is typically 2133 or 2400 for new-ish Intel platforms)).

Your PSU has been found by several others to be inadequate for a 3080, and seen to cause both lesser performance & outright shut downs, in other complaints stemming from the 3080 FTW3 Ultra. Having said that, as I'm sure others have pointed out, Time Spy is effected by CPU & RAM speed. As a for instance: My system at "mostly stock (CPU fully at stock, other settings listed in the result): 15164 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/14543344My system @ 5GHz CPU, 4000MHz CL17 RAM, GPU OCed as well: 18194 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/14651349 The other thing is that the overall score in Time Spy scales with CPU cores, so you should only be comparing your results with other 8700K users. You can do this by using the "results" page & designating your CPU & GPU to get a rough idea of just how good or bad you're performing... remember that the "top" results for pretty much every setup are LN2 people. Also, one last thing, drivers can effect scores by several hundred points in some instances. I would NOT recommend switching drivers purely to get better 3DMark scores, you should be updating drivers when/if a driver lists fixes for a game you are having issues with.

The EVGA GQ is fine, it's the GA that has the problems.

I havent heard of the GQ having problems. Do you have a source for people talking about that? I remember in another thread users not reporting issues with GQ but with GA as Jankerson mentions above.

I legitimately read "GA" and not GQ, mai bad on that part, the GA branch is indeed the ones with the most problems - I've been up for 4 days with very little sleep Also, it appears that the 8700K/3080 results don't have any "obviously LN2" results at the top of the leader board, and they seem to top out around 17k on regular TimeSpy.

did you enable XMP in your bios? Your ram is faster than mine so it should make an even bigger difference.

Your scores do seem quite low. I have almost the exact same specs as you, with the exception of the GPU. I'm running the XC3 Ultra which generally produces scores a few hundred points below the FTW3 Ultra so you should be higher than me. I'm running completely stock on my CPU and GPU at the moment because my CPU cooler died recently. The XC3 Ultra also runs really hot (74C) so I don't feel like there is any room for me to OC further using XC1. Score: 14,041 Graphics: 16,438 CPU: 7,690
You should be beating me at the very least since you have the same CPU and a better GPU.

I have a 5900X and a 3080 FTW3 Hybrid, I am getting 12000 scores. My GPU utilization drops like a rock in TimeSpy right a few seconds in when it pans to the side view of the woman walking down the isle, from 97-98% to 71% and frames drop like crazy, from the hundreds to the 70’s.
Port Royal seems to work fine as well as Valley and superposition for other benchmarks. I score anywhere from 13000 to 13250 in port royal, with a undervolt curve capping me at 2040 MHz.
My power plan is fine, set to use max performance in the nvidia control panel. Not sure what is going on and like I said it’s only appearing to be an issue in Time Spy.
