Depends on which slots you plan to use.

wouldn't I want to use the two #14 according to the instructions PCI-E x 16/x8 slots which are the one closest to the memory and the other third from that so I'm thinking the four slot one just don't want to buy the wrong one.  https://www.evga.com/prod...aspx?pn=100-2W-0028-LR

    ...

If he is setting the board up for both cards to run at 16x (PE1 and PE4) using both slots listed as #14 on page 14 of the Dark Manual then he was correct he needs the 4 slot space 100-2W-0028-LR

    From page 27

PCIe Lane Distribution (Core™ i9-79xx, 44 Lane Processors)
     PE1 – x16 (Gen3, x16 lanes from CPU, x8 shared with PE2)
     PE2 – x16 (Gen3, x8 lanes from CPU, shares 8 of PE1’s 16 lanes)
     PE3 – x16 (Gen3, x8 lanes from CPU, shares 8 of PE4’s 16 lanes)
     PE4 – x16 (Gen3, x16 lanes from CPU, x8 shared with PE3)

If he was using numbers 14 and 15 (PE1 and PE2) which are the 16x/8x/ shared slots then he would need the one Iamrougue posted

    Edit Note:
I do not have an X299 Dark in hand yet (grrrr) and had looked at which bridge would be needed if I had decided to go SLI using both the 16x slots - I had come too the conclusion that it was the 4 slot bridge. I will ping bcavanaugh and gobstoppable to see if they can chime in with they see on their boards.
I was just going off of what they show in the pictures on the Pro bridge pages as far as slot spacing and what I can see in the picture of the board in the manual. Dadnjesse do you have an X299 Dark in your hands yet?

I am using this one on my X299 Dark MB 100-2W-0027-LR 2 Slot Spacing HB
    PE1 – x16
    PE4 – x16
with a (Skylake-X) PCIe Lane Distribution (Core™ i9-79xx, 44 Lane Processor) Page 27 in user manual.
If you use or get the NVIDIA HB Bridge then you need their SLI Bridge: 4-Slot

Your positive it is the 27 and not the 28

When looking at the end view from the bracket at https://www.evga.com/articles/01020/evga-pro-sli-bridge-hb/ it doesn't look like enough space with the 27

That is the one necessary. Board spacing is 100% universal on standard boards, which this is standard spacing. I use a board with the exact spacing and that is the required bridge, the 2 slot bridge.

Refer to picture on page 14 and chart on page 15, and you can clearly see that lanes were being skipped. In the explanation above, you would be using the very bottom slot, since the explanation above left out the x4 and bottom x16/8 lanes completely.

Further, the bridges give a diagram of which you need. Using lane 1 and lane 4 would leave room for a single regular sized 2 slot card open, which is 40mm as shown in the 2 slot spaced bridge. The blue markers show the spaces properly. 1 slot is 20mm, 2 is 40mm, and 4 is 80mm... you aren’t going 4 spaces, you are going 2.

100 million percent positive. You left out multiple lanes in your explanation. It is explained above.

OK, and great job doing that on your phone the_Scarlet_one

I was trying to account for the spacing for the m.2 cooler between PE1 and PE2 which looked to add slot space when compared to the spacing between slots PE2-PE4

Bahhh,,, sorry if I steered you in the wrong direction. As the_Scarlet_one said, I too thought you had seen where that whole conversation went. Thankfully it was not on expensive price of hardware

He picked up the 4 slot one - which was the one that I had "thought" it was instead of the much explained 2 slot one that you and the_Scarlet_one had pointed out to be the correct one
