My Pc just crashed: Here are the error messages, from the event viewer, and from a message from when windows started up. What does the 9c, error mean, and what settings do I need to tweak. It looks like I posted this in late April, when I was first overclocking. I may have to increase vcore - I'll see if I documented what I did to get past this.

BCCode 9c Useually means its a machine check exception. It may be caused by faulty CPU, Mother Board, or RAM. I had to go to a Vtt of +250 on my system, and needed a CPUV of 1.375; regardless of what you try, Dont go above 1.4 or +300, as that will take you out of the safe range. also look at your temps, No core , or anything else for that matter , should ever go above 85, with IBT or LinX, and some use 75 as their guide.

My CPU VTT Voltage is currently at ( +225 ) my vcore: CPU VCore ( 1.3125) with Vdroop Off. If I increase CPU VTT, will this increase core temps? Anyway, I need to get liquid cooling as my cores are getting too hot at full load.

9c is straight up vcore. Your cpu isn't getting enough voltage to handle load.

Thanks, I'll increase vcore 1 notch, and am shopping for a water cooler right now as this will increase core temps. Somebody should update the evga voltage guide: http://forums.evga.com...09&mpage=1&key as the 9c error is not mentioned.

9c will usually "become" 101 code.

Did it go away after going up a notch on v-core? What are your full load temps now? If you get water cooling, you will be able to go up more. Not all 920 DO's are voltage misers. Also, once you get temps down, don't be afraid to go over 1.4 volts on your v-core. It won't hurt a thing. At your 196 X 20 (which is actually 21 with turbo enabled) you are over 4.1 ghz. I feel that your v-core is just too low to handle it.

mhalstern When will it "become" 101 error code? When you push your OC more without raising voltages, i.e. just raise Bclock.

I upped vcore 1 notch from 1.3125 to 1.31875. The following recorded temperatures are with my room temperature at 78 f. With the Outside temperature at 101f, my Wall Unit Air Conditioner at the lowest (60 f Full Fan) setting is unable to lower the ambient temperature any more. With the cores Idle, (0% cpu usage) CPU-Z reports a vcore of 1.329. With the idle cores, the core temperatures are: 62 c 60 c 59 c 60 c After having been at full load (each core between 99 - 100%) for 10 minutes, CPU-Z reports a vcore of 1.364, and the core temps are: 91 c 91 c 85 c 86 c These are high with MY A.C. Blasting. I took the liberty of keeping the A.C. on while I was at work today. The problem is that with my setup, with every degree increase in ambient room temperature, my core temperatures increase the exact number of degrees. With Vdroop Off, the maximum vcore is always more than the bios setting. I did notice the change. With the older 1.3125 vcore setting, at full load, CPU-Z would report vcore between 1.352 and 1.364. Now, with the setting at 1.31875, CPU-Z always reports vcore at 1.364. sgtharry - You had mentioned that my vcore was too low. What would you consider appropriate to handle my overclock? Thanks. If you raise vCore, your core temps are going to increase too, and you don't have any room for that. You are at your max Vcore now, unless you improve your cooling you need to reduce your OC settings to make your current OC stable instead of raising Vcore.

I just crashed with a 101 error. Vcore up to 1.325 now. I wonder If I'll hit 100c on a core, before I get water cooling.

mhalstern I prefer to keep my overclock. Please reply with suggested water coolers. You should ask that Q here: Overclocking, Cooling and Benchmarking And think system components, not just a single-part solution.

Hey guys, what do you think? Could it be just his TIM or TIM application is a problem? Opinions, please.

Ambient of 78 is pretty warm. Haven't used air cooling much myself for awhile, but pleanty of members are in your overclock range without water.I'm sure someone will have suggestions. When I was running my 920, my v-core was in the 1.4's for 200 QPI.But that was my chip. I REALLY think you should re-look at your thermal paste application though, as I see you have H/T off? Those are high temps for no H/T.

I used some sore of "thermal pad" instead of paste. Some posters here have criticized this. I'll take a look at the "fit." It was working great while my vcore was <1.3 and the outside temperatures were <85 f. My core temps went up a little with the new vcore of 1.31875. At full loads, CPU-Z mostly shows a Vcore of 1.376, and sometimes 1.364 Now, at full load, (still room temp at 78 f) I have: 94 c 93 c 88 c 88 c I earlier tied a personal record with 98 c on 1 core! I'm curious as to why cores 0 and 1 are always a few degrees higher than cores 2 and 3?

mhalstern I'm curious as to why cores 0 and 1 are always a few degrees higher than cores 2 and 3? Bc you have turbo on. It kicks up core 0 to 22, and the other cores go 21. My CPU cores temps went in this order: 0,1, (2&3) until I RMAd a memory stick and turned off HT, now it goes 0,2,1,3.

I would "strongly" suggest ditching the thermal "pad". Use Arcic silver "ceramique" paste. I bet your temps go way down with it. Radio-Shack sells it.
