I recently bought a used 1080 off of the For Sale forum at AnandTech. It was  said to be an EVGA GTX 1080 SC. I looked it up and thought that it was an EVGA GTX 1080 SC ACX 3.0. After getting the card I did a Lookup with GPU-Z, it says that the card is an EVGA GTX 1080 SC2 w/ iCX Cooler 11Gbps. I'd wondered if the BIOS had been update with the wrong one, so I went on EVGA.com and looked for the latest BIOS. They asked for my serial number, I put it in based on the label on the box and it said that it wasn't valid. So, took out the card and verified that the numbers matched. I  noticed that it did say iCX at the top of the front of the GPU. Nowhere on the box does it say SC2,  or SC for that mater. The picture of the card shows SC on the top of the card, so it might be an 11Gbps SC, rather than an SC2.

The card runs Fire Strike, Heaven and Valley fine, but will not run Time Spy or Userbenchmark. Which is what got me to look into the card.

When I put in the model number I get varying results. Model number is: 08G-P4-6283-KB.

What do you think it is?

This the product description for the part naauamber you gave

    https://www.evga.com/prod...4ca3-be77-016deb9627b6

No mention of ICX.  I wonder if the person that sold it to you had flashed the card with the ICX bios?

This is the product description of the ICX 1080

    https://www.evga.com/prod...4c2f-be64-5f5e92173505

IF the card is ICX...install EVGA precision and see if it detects the three zones for heat.  GPU, Memory and power.

Additional thought...download GPU-Z from TechPowerUp.  See what it says about the card

    Hi Bob,

The EVGA links don't load. After I posted I learned from the seller that the card was bought from Best Buy in July 2017, thus the KB at the end of the model number. I'm beginning to think that EVGA made a special run for BB that had the ICX cooler, but not the extra temperature sensors and the multi fan control.

This is just speculation on my part based on what I've read in other posts. I would have to take off the back plate to be sure.'

Wow...I double checked the link when I loaded them...and they worked...now they don't...odd.  EVGA did make GPU's for Best Buy...remember that.  Still doesn't explain why TimeSpy won't run...your card is DX12...have you updated to the latest version of 3DMark?

Also...there is another DX12 module in Futuremark...Night Raid.  Give that a try and see if it will run...

Thanks for letting me know that! Night Raid ran fine. I've attached my results. Do they look reasonable to you? I am running the Demo version through Steam, in case that makes a difference.

Not bad.  Mind you...I have a 2080TI with a 16 core / 32 thread CPU...so some scores are going to naturally be higher...but with that said...for a 1080 you look pretty good.    Mine does a 133,509 and CPU score is about 1500 higher...but...you look decent.  Still can't figure out why you can't run Timespy.  What is your CPU?  Also...what Nvidia driver version?

Strong systm...your CPU score reflects that.  Overall you are in pretty good shape...Timespy is a DX12 benchmark...so if you can run Night Raid...Timespy should not be an issue.  Try t0 do a custom  run with Timespy...Make sure it isn't trying to run a resolution higher than your monitor. Example...on my 1080p laptop monitor...it tries to run at 1440p...it runs...but not well.  Keep adjusting until you are satisfied

Thanks! I am running the Demo version of 3DMark and Time Spy no longer loads...just sits at 0% downloading. Maybe I used up all my free runs. :)

I removed EVGA OC utilities since they were not working and gave MSI Afterburner a try. I did a small OC and improved Valley by .9 fps, which at least shows it can be OC'ed. Using Percision X1, my frame rate went down when I tried OC'ing.

I'm done! Thanks for all your help!
