Good for you Alan! Do you play any instruments? Anyway, my honest opinion?!? Well, it is def mixed/arranged pretty well and sounds like maybe a tick or two below commercial quality, but I don't think your everyday listener would notice much. The song itself is ok, theres not really anything too hooky or memorable about the melody and pretty much sounds like any other radio song from this genre. You def get points for doing your own singing though cause I hate singing myself. Maybe you could put a band together of like minded guys, or girls, and bounce ideas off each other and improve the songs some??!? To be fair, full disclosure, I am a bassist, although I can play other instruments too, was in a bunch of bands, live gigs, studio work etc... and really I don't like r&b at all but im open minded enough to listen to anything and appreciate the work. Also, my family says im a "music snob" cause I have a bad habit of picking songs apart, looking for mistakes etc... so def take my critique with a grain of salt.  I def commend you for your hard work though.

Thank you for the critique! I don't play any instrument fluently. I started making hip-hop beats (sample based) and playing synths over the samples kind of got me familiar with the keyboard over the years. I definitely agree with your mix opinion, its very close to commercial quality but I think the kick is pumping maybe a taaaaad too much for radio and I could've spent a little more time EQing and adding reverb/fx. But you have to learn when to stop and move on. I felt I got the message across and I'm happy with it. I definitely hear the song evolving in to many things, which is partially why it's only 2 minutes long. I had too many ideas so I just let the main idea be. I don't make much R&B but I found myself with about 5 R&B records so I decided to release them before I start putting out more electronic/hiphop stuff I normally do. It sounds like you have a good ear and I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Here's another record from the same project.
