By pages freezing up, are you referring to how sluggish the forums have been recently?  Where you click on a section and it has to think about it for several seconds.  That's what I've been seeing.
 
As far as there promotional ads, I use Adguard to block the element.  It's very annoying seeing that pop up all the time.

I think for the most part they fixed this all yesterday. At least the Errors I was having or seeing.
Oh and the Stalker is gone as well now.

It's been running fine for me, but these popup contest notifications are really annoying.  At least set them to remember when you've already entered.

the only error i got which finally went away was at the login screen, got some banner above the login fields that said cookies have been cleared and would not log me in

I had to clear out the cookies and temp files to see the site again.
