Well, its a long process. But i started out by:

1) Buying this book: http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Painting-Techniques-Practical-Collection/dp/0240521749
( ^ Which is really good if you already know how to use photoshop but are arting to paint for the first time)

2) Buying this wacom tablet: HERE

3) Reading loads of tutorials online.

4) Drawing my design on paper and scanning it in

5) Paint on top of drawing in CS5 for 20 hours over 5 days

Thats about it....in simple terms. But i can pm you if you want to know anything specific about the painting process or how i achieved some effects.  Theres too much to write here.

Looks great, I saw your earlier sketch of it. I was expecting  bit of color, but it looks good as monochrome too. Perhaps red or green hair lol, or red or green smoke.

I was expecting it to be color too!, But i havnt really mastered color painting yet, especially painting color on top of greyscale.
I gave it a go, but it looked terrible so i reverted back to greyscale.  A few people have asked for green smoke so im thinking of doing one but with the vapor green etc... But for the moment, i just stuck with this one for the comp. :)



Thank you everyone for your kind words. I didnt know what to expect.... my mum said it was good, but its hard to tell whether your mum is being kind so not to hurt you, or is genuinely impressed.  She did tell me my cooking was "disgusting" once though.

Oh man... Use your imagination. Nothing I could suggest would even do it justice... I for one am just happy with the sides being as they are, just in the wider res...
