I thought it would be interesting if we started a post about VGA cards that we used in the past as some people collect these now i guess .. it's so cool to see where hardware has came from to present day and it always seems no matter how powerful the cards become we never really enjoyed them very long before something like Crysis hit the market..

This is my EVGA 8800GT SC that i bought on release date and me not wanting to wait for aftermarket cooling modded mine useing a cooler that was made for the 7800GTX card.. the cooler also seen life on my 7900GT before the 8800GT .. with this cooler and some Antec 5 the card could reach 745Mhz core and has also been bios flashed to the 8800GT SSC and still runs perfect today.

I had the MX440 and I still run it in my old PC.
------Then starts the EVGA cards I used---------
Also I used to have 2 7600 GTs
then went to the 8800 GTS512 until it died
then got a GTX 260 SSC.
I will add pictures of my mx440 if I can find the box :D

I had a Matrox Millenium back in the DOS days. I used a 3dfx Voodoo 3000 for a while. I played Quake 3 using that card. Somewhere after that I had a Geforce Ti 4600 which was a fairly expensive card back then. I don't remember if it was an EVGA card or not. After that I went with 2x 6800GT card from EVGA. I remember these cards running really hot while playing AoE 2 but they otherwise performed great for the time. Then I bought 2x EVGA 8800GT cards which I later upgraded with the Akimbo coolers. These were great cards for gaming and ran very cool with the upgraded cooler. I still have most of these cards somewhere.

My notable cards over the years:

    1. Matrox Millenium 2d card
    2. Voodoo 1
    3. Voodoo 2 SLI
    4. Original GeForce
    5. Probably some variations of Geforce 2 and 3. I don't remember.
    6. Geforce 6800gt
    7. ATI X1950 XTX
    8. Geforce 8800gt
    9. Geforce 9800gtx+
    10. Geforce GTX470 (current card)

I probably forgot a few. As you can tell I am not a big ATI fan. I think I still have the original GeForce sitting somewhere in an old computer. May have chunked it. I don't remember what I did with the old Voodoo cards.

People actually collect old video cards?

mine was an mx440, then 5500gt, then 8800gts 512mb which I stepped up to my 260 :) As you can see I only upgrade every few years ;)

The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd.
