As most of us know, the manual available to keyboard users is pretty limited. I have managed to get by with my new Z12 and am pretty happy with the purchase so far.

Of course, I have learned a little about what the Unleash RGB software does in terms of allowing the keyboard to work its magic. Until now, I have always started/stopped the software manually. It is NOT running all the time. Mostly what I have done (simple, static, solid color profiles and a few key re-maps - not even any macros yet) seem to work by storing data in the keyboard itself somehow and do NOT seem to require Unleash RGB to be running all the time.

But it is clear that there is an option to run the software to start with Windows and I presume there is a good reason for that. But I have no idea what that reason might be. For example, must it be running for macros to work? Must it be running for more complex color profiles to work? I am just not clear on all this.

Thanks

I think it's mostly to do updates and color profiles. I think the macros and RGB settings are set up on the keyboard itself. I wouldn't be suprised if for the Z20 it didn't need to be running for the TOF sensor to work but for a Z12 I don't think it's that important to be running all the time especially if you are not using macros yet.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

Correct. Mostly for macros, reassigning keys, changing backlight colors and updates. You would just need to have it running while making changes, once you have saved/applied the settings it will save to the keyboard's onboard memory and then you may close the program. You do not need the software to be running all the time.

Thanks for the clarification.
