I have two Planar SA2311W's which are capable of 120hz over DVI.
Are DP-DVI cables capable of running 120hz?

I highly doubt it.. Why not use a DVI-DVI cable to be on the save side?

Dual link DVI is capable of 120Hz.

You should be able to use a DP to DVI-D cable. You might have to use a USB powered converter, though. Those aren't as cheap.

Only 1 DVI connection on the back of the card :/ Update: I bought two display port to dvi cables and the monitors will only run at 60hz. So I guess active adapters are needed after all.

I think you might be confusing your abbreviations here. DVI-D is not the abbreviation for DVI Dual-Link. It's the abbreviation for DVI-Digital, meaning it can only carry a digital video signal, as opposed to DVI-A (analog) or DVI-I (capable of both analog and digital video signals). A DVI-D port can be either single link or dual link.

The cables appear to be DVI-D Dual link.

You can tell by the DVI connector having a solid rectangular field of pins, as opposed to two separate 3x3 fields. That's unfortunate if DP to DVI doesn't support 3d. How else is one supposed to do 3d surround?

I had a feeling that what I needed. I don't know if its worth the cost of the converters to justify 120hz, but at least I now there's a solution. Thank you for the recommendation.
