Good news with no flags set I am no longer getting any Core 21 P96xx Projects. Core 18 ZETA_DEV is all I see now! MayBe!

I will be home tomorrow night, and will be jumping on the computer to record all errors and faults, and will make sure to provide any updates available.

I will start the Third Round only on the GTX 980 HC Rig as it is the only one receiving Core 21 Projects that are failing. Should be sometime late afternoon. I will Drop the Memory down 2000 MHz and start back up. I am still getting Core 21 UNKNOWN_ENUM P9704 Projects without the Client Type Set.

Round Three on the GTX 980 HC Rig. I dropped the Memory Down to 2004 MHz from 3004 MHz (This dropped my PPD By over 580,000) And I did get a Core 21 UNKNOWN_ENUM Project P9704

No problem...I'm trying something a little different and have had some luck. I removed all the overvoltage and set memory back to normal P2 state on all my cards and the few core 21s I've gotten have run with no issues. I've just added the advanced flag to try to get some more core 21s and I'll let you know later how it goes.

I am thinking Stanford screwed up GPU compute on Maxwell products. My original Titan can fold all day long core 21 with no issues. I have core 21's go crazy every now and then with GPU usage and power jumping up and down all the time. I am using MSI's Afterburner to watch my GPU's as it gives better live logging compared to EVGA's. I never have a problem on a core 15,17 or 18. Only core 21 gives me issues on the Maxwells. When all works fine I am getting 1 million PPD with a Titan in one machine and a GTX 980TI SC and 980 SC in my main machine.

Well it may have been that Stanford has correct the problem of Core 21 Projects by correcting the Client Type Setting. So if you remove Advance or remove the Client Type altogether you will not get any Core 21 so they cannot fail. Not sure this is really the best move on Stanford's side because Core 18 are still in ZETA_DEV Mode or at least I have not Seen a Core 18 ZETA Only Project.

Yes, my GTX 780 and Titan along with my AMD R290X have not had any problems, so it seems to be the Second Generation of the Maxwell GPU.

Slightly off topic but related... after I updated Windows 10 to the new 1511 November build it somehow broke the OpenCL implementation that FAH uses. I'd get OpenCL.dll missing errors trying to run Core 21 projects on a Titan Black. Reinstalling the drivers fixed it, but it was strange that I had to do so at all...
Have water, will cool.

OK, that is nice to know but how do our team members correct it? Do they need to reinstall the Graphics Drivers or reinstall the Client Software? My Windows 10 Rig has a GTX 690 in it so their is no point in Folding on it so I do not have the Client installed.

https://folding.stanford.edu/home/issues-with-fahcore21/ Vijay Pande We’ve discovered that the new FahCore_21 is producing more errors than we consider acceptable for some clients. The error rate seems to depend on several factors but most noticeable is that it doesn’t work well with second generation Maxwell GPUs. A few projects have made their way through Advanced testing have been distributed to everyone under the default “FAH” client-type setting. To allow donors to limit this exposure, those projects have been reclassified as “Advanced” which is appropriate for a FahCore that is still under development. As has always been the case, the “Advanced” setting will give you access to newer projects which may have a higher error rate. It is our intention to provide only the safest assignments with the default setting or you can choose to configure your system to run these advanced projects depending on how frequently you encounter these errors. These conditions are expected to improve as new projects, new versions of that FahCore, or new versions of the drivers incorporate whatever fixes are required. In the meantime, Work Units which are completed successfully allow scientific research to progress toward even more challenging projects than we’ve done so far.
It seems like your efforts have paid off and our voice has been heard.

Vijay Pande We’ve discovered that the new FahCore_21 is producing more errors than we consider acceptable for some clients.
This is INCREDIBLE. I made to share it on folding forums so it is seen on our thread also.

I think with all the "Bad Work Units" returned they kinda knew there was an issue . I am glad that they finally acknowledged it.

Speaking of issues with Core21 and GTX 980s, anyone else notice a total desktop slowdown after a certain point while folding Core 21 projects? It immediately goes away if I pause folding and takes a while to come back on resuming, but it's not showing any errors in the log.

I have not see it, but that would show that it is a Driver Issue on your computer. Look in your Event Logs and also any NVIDIA Logs.

Yes I've had that with my 980Ti. ...are you using the overvoltage tool in PX16?

I am glad I have not seen on any of my 6 980 cards that I do use PX16 to overclock and increase the voltage or overvoltage. Maybe this is only on the Ti Models.

Hi everyone, first post on this forum! I've been noticing the same issue described using a single EVGA 970 SSC. It would start and seem to be working (300k+ ppd) and after about an hour the core clock would drop to about 400MHz and ppd drop to <90k. I once even had the desktop slowdown Drazhar described, but a reboot fixed that. How should I proceed? Remove the advanced flag? What driver version are people having the most success with? I'm not home right now but I can try to post some logs later if anyone is interested. I also have an issue where my EVGA year 8 total points dropped to 0 and therefore my score for November is negative. Are these issues related? Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the Forum! As far a points you will have to wait until Stanford fixes their server that manages points. On your other issues what Core and what Program were you running at the time of the Desktop went black and then returned? "Remove the advanced flag?" Yes and reboot your computer and you should not see any Core 21 Projects. "What driver version are people having the most success with?" This is anyone's Guess as far as what I have tested. Stay with the current driver.

I think I've loaded up PX16 twice just to check what clocks my 980s are running at. I had my first one OCd by 100 mhz at one point but I took it off. No voltage tweaks from me.
