When Eco mode is turned on, the fan causes psu/pc to reboot the instant it is activated. When eco mode is turned off (fan running at all times) everything is fine. When I turn eco mode on and off (effectively turning the fan on and off) while the computer's running, it's fine. Voltages are normal, the psu is not stressed and I run my rig through a voltage regulator. I'm just struggling to understand how this is happening. Can anyone make any sense out of it?

Thanks for the heads up. Sorry for withholding info. Here you go, however I don't believe some of the specs are relevant as I was able to reproduce the problem with my hard drive disconnected. Also note the psu sometimes enters a reboot loop when it builds up heat enough to trigger the fan (eco mode on). Now that I turned off eco mode, the computer's running uninterupted. I also ran extensive memory and cpu stress tests and ran into no problems. Also please give me some credit, I didn't mess up the connections. Only 24-pin plug, CPU and a single SSD are connected to the motherboard, in their respective slots. The case is ventilated adequately and the computer ran for months without me making any alterations whatsoever. So the only connections are; 24-Pin connected to the MB Socket on the PSU 8-Pin CPU connected to CPU1 Socket on the PSU One Sata1 or Perif1 used for the SSD Drive On your case is the Power Light Working and also is the Hard Drive HD LED Working OK? http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=59497If all connected ok and turning the ECO On causes the computer to reboot then it may have a short, then time to Call Support and Request an RMA. You could also check the Motherboard Stand Off are not Grounding out anywhere.

No peripherals connected, my three case fans are powered by my mobo's 3-pin connectors. CPU and SATA (I reproduced the problem with SATA disconnected) are connected correctly and led indicators are in order, in fact the computer runs flawlessly otherwise. The problem occurs only when the PSU fan is triggered while Eco Mode is turned on.

Then time to open a support ticket and request an RMA. How old is this PSU and you may even be able to take it back to where you bought it.

Thank you. I bought the PSU off Amazon.com but I reside outside of the US. Evga PSUs aren't available here, so I'm guessing the RMA process will not be easy for me. Anyway, I want to ask something semi-related. Is the PSU supposed to make a clicking sound when it shuts down? I never gave it a second thought.

Is this something to be concerned about? I ask because I also have a G2 (EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2) that I purchased on 2/22/16 and I had the same exact situation happen. If I have it in eco mode it will be fine for awhile and the pc will just shutdown for no reason while just browsing the web and will not start back up unless I wait awhile, but it will just shut down again. All my connections are correct and the pc runs perfectly with eco mode off. I have been using the pc for 4 weeks now with this power supply and eco mode off with no problems and I just figured since its not loud at all and doing its job then no worries cause Micro Center is a 2+ hour drive but now I'm wondering if I'll be facing issues later because of this and maybe should just take care of it now or do you think itll be fine as is. shoo Thanks

Is your G2 causing your Computer to reboot as the OP has Posted then Yes if not then No. Also this is about the 550W G2 and not the 850 G2.

Sorry but yes I realize its not the same psu but it is a EVGA G2, and my pc doesnt reboot it just shuts down and only with eco mode and I can power back up after a few minutes. No problems at all if eco mode is off.

Update: Evga approved an RMA but I most likely won't be sending the unit to them because shipping it to Germany is my only option and the cheapest service I could find costs around €50.
