So I have had this problem for some time now, it has actually prompted me to get some new parts for my machine but the problem still persists. This happens when I boot the computer up.. it freezes like this after the windows "welcome" screen. I have to continue to shut the computer off and turn it on until it finally loads into windows -So sad seeing that crappy keyboard.. I killed my G15 last month. Apparently they don't take well to water. I've already got a new power supply, and a new SSD so that rules out power or bad drives.. I thought maybe it would be power because in the past my GTX 570 (that I have already sold) was giving me strange green flashing during game play.. Anyway what do you guys think it could be? Memory? Maybe my GTX 280 is finally taking a dump?

Do you ever hear Windows start up or does it seem to lock up? Judging from the picture, I'd say the 280 is dumping out. ~Fus

A few things to check out..... a bad dvi-/vga/hdmi cable or adapter plug is bad.... the monitor itself is beginning to crap out... the video card is bad Those are the 3 big culprits for seeing a screen like your pics. --BUT -- please list your entire system specs and all your devices plugged into your computer , similar to what's in my signature. Giving people all the info is a big help to figuring out issues...

PC Specs
-Gigabyte EX-58 EXTREME motherboard -Intel Core i7 920 - Bloomfield -GTX 280 SSC *I am mixing memory, though I have never had issue with this in the past but I understand that this is not recommended especially if the memory don't have the same speed. -I'm running 6GB of G.Skill PC3-10700H (667Mhz) and 3GB of Corsair (667MHz) In CPUz the Timings tables do not match completely G.skill lowest timing is 592Mhz, Corsair's lowest is 444MHz but the chips match eachother at 666MHz. That doesn't really look like it would be an issue since they're running the same speed apparently...
-Samsung 840 SSD
aka_steve you suggested to some possible culprits so what I'm gonna do is buy some new cables for my monitors and see if that stops the issue I'm having.. My GTX 570 was doing weird stuff too and my friend said that it sounded like it was a monitor/cable related issue but once I swapped back to the 280 the graphic distortions stopped for about 9 months and then these boot up issues started.
Also yeah when the screen goes black at post when you get passed the "welcome" screen I do hear the windows log in sound and the machine promptly goes to what I showed in the picture.
I hope my 280 isn't on the fritz :( it's an awesome back up card and I paid over 600 bucks for it since I got it the day it came out lol

So the same thing happened again but this time when I went to launch a game. When the game popped up it immediately artifacted and froze.. interestingly enough though my Spotify music was still playing.. and the cursor(mouse) became an artifacting square that I could move around the monitor but once I moved it to the second monitor the square froze in place.
After about 20 seconds the screens lost signal and went black...
Any ideas?

After the cable/ adapter swaps happen --> if it still doing it my next thing would be to switch to a seperate monitor & see if it continues, - IF SO - probably narrowed it down to a bad graphics card You can always see about borrowing/ swapping out the video card also and that will tell you right away too if it's a bad card.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a card I could borrow to test so I'll have to buy a new one :/ I'll get cables when I get paid on the 20th though -edit So I tried using only my Sony monitor to see if my 22" acer is what was causing me all this trouble Computer boots into windows.. I start opening multiple games and no artifacting.. Looks like the search is over...pretty much.. either a bad cable or bad monitor... Sucks if the monitor is bad.. I wanted to use this one as a 2nd when I get a 24" ASUS When I buy the cable next week I'll post back with my results. Cheers!

Bumping an old topic My issue went away for a couple months and now it's back... It's strange that the computer will always artifact and restart, but windows picks it up as a blue screen. I managed to get windows to give me a little more information about where the error is coming from I really do not know what else to do any more...

Take everything out the case and set it up on a cardboard box I was having issue too with stability and after taking it out my case it ran perfectly for months My guess is you're having grounding issues

Not only have I tried several official drivers, including the latest ones, but I've even started using customer built drivers to see if anything changes, but nope~

I've already done a dskchk, I also used the windows applications that varify drivers and I've also done the memory check and everything came back good... But still can't boot without safe mode Oh and a little background as to when this all began... I came home last night and launched diablo 3 but once it loaded it it suddenly went to a bright pink screen and stayed that way. and now it's stuck in a BSOD boot loop

Raise your IOH to 1.2V.
You want me to crank up the voltage in the bios?

Yes. Low V there can cause vid failures.

I'm pretty sure it's at that already I just flashed my cmos to stock and I'm about to flash my bios to a different version since all else has failed. I just successfully flashed to a slightly older BIOS that isn't a beta version and I still got the same problem. THis is annoying...
