SPR is a new type of coin that does not permit Multipool mining, so less coin dumping problem. It is starting to attract attention.
Using a new algo, Spreadx11, and forked AMD and GPU miners are available just recently. Maxwell base GPU has an edge at the moment, 750 TI gets at least 1,400kh/s and 970 gets at least 3,300kh/s. Been testing/mining (solo-mine with 5x 750 Ti and 1x 970 generating just over 10k kh/s) and gets 50+ coins (Network Hash of 600k kh/s)
At estimation of 100 coins per day (or 10 coin per 1k kh/s) and at price of 0.00010000 btc, it is profitable to mine at this moment. However the difficulty level and Net Hash are rising and hopefully the price will rise as well.
However, you must be a very patient miner for this coin as you might only get a block (currently 6+ coins) very hour+ on average for 10k kh/s. Electricity consumption is slightly less than NIST5.
 
Do your own research before start mining.
 
Edit: ended 1 day mining with 89 coins (1st 12hr 50 + 2nd 12hr 39). Network Hash has increased to 750k kh/s. At one time it was 800k kh/s. You will need even more patient to mine this coin now. SPR Buy Price currently at 0.00010100 btc.

    Have been solo mine SPR since early Dec. Today SPR hit #3 volume in Bittrex (also listed in CCEX).
    Current price is about 0.00058000. Since early Dec, price appreciated more than 5x and net hash is at around 2.4-3.0 GH/s, growth of about 3.5x.
    A variant of Darkcoin Masternodes shouldl be available for testing by around end of Jan.
    At the moment, 10mh/s mining would get you 5-6 blocks (about 6.3SPR per block). So if we take 30 SPR/day @ 0.00055000btc, you get 0.01650000btc per day.
    Worth taking a look if you are GPU miners, especially with Maxwell.

    Got bored with your Maxwell GPUs? Why not revisit SpreadCoin (SPR) to see if its recent progress is worthwhile for you to start Solo Mine on SPR.
    1) SPR is now worthy for the Trolls to spend time to mess up the SPR Bitcointalk thread, driving price down (currently @ 47k satoshi). I managed to buy a few hundreds SPRs at around 40k satoshi.
    2) Masternode (MN) testing is currently being done at testnet, refer to http://spreadcointalk.org/index.php?board=3.0. Testing of V1 meet all specifications as per the developer's earlier announcement, MN get 30% block reward and Mining reward reduced by 30%. The beauty to me is that the MN setup can be done within 5 mins (no need to be a techie and follow pages and pages of instructions like other ALT Coin's implementation). When MN is implemented live, you can earn SPR by just running yr old CPU 24/7.

    The problem I see is the same thing I see/have seen with Day Traders on Wall Street.  They are in it for a quick buck and as a result, they don't look at a long term investment.  I call it the End Cap mentality, it's there, it's reachable and for a moment it satisfies your buying needs.  However, moments later like Chinese food, you hunger for more.
     
    I prefer the long term view.

    Been messing around with this for a few days and got 1 block per day on my 780, operating at 3MH/s it was able to make 0.002291625 BTC/day. Operating costs of the 780 are on average $0.0036/day at 150 watts and $.1/kwh basically equates to  $0.17 cents/day profit at today's market value of $230/BTC. It definately does make money that's for sure. But just not that much unless you have some insane power!

    When it comes down to it, I'd rather spend the $10/month and put the GPU towards science! BOINC and EVGA all the way!!
