Hi all, i'm having a problem where every time I put my PC to sleep or restart or shutdown, that the surround setting in the sound blaster panel has to be unchecked and then rechecked. Otherwise, only my front speakers work. It's a quick fix by doing it every time, but would like to find out why I have to do this all the time. So, anybody else have this issue on Windows 10 using sound blaster?

Just a wild guess... In the sound blaster menu via settings does it show anything about selecting the amount of speakers you can use? Are you able to save the settings?

Sometimes Windows 10 likes to install new drivers, it can cause issues. Have you tired doing a clean install of the latest driver? With my Creative AE-5 sound card, i have to do this below to avoid sound issues after rebooting. 1. Go to Control Panel -- Apps and Features and remove all Creative/Sound Blaster softwares. Do not restart the computer, even if prompted so. 2. Go to Device Manager -- Audio, Video and Game Controllers and right-click on each Creative/Sound Blaster entry, then select Properties and from the Driver tab choose Uninstall/Remove. Repeat the procedure with each of them. Do not restart the computer, even if prompted so. 3. Use Windows Search on your hard drive(s) to locate the Creative folder and delete it. 4. Download the following file and save it in a known location. Do not launch it for the moment.
=================================== Download the latest driver for your sound card ===================================
5. Disconnect the computer from the internet and restart. 6. With the internet connection still inactive, install the previously downloaded software, then restart again. 7. Are you experiencing the same issues?
If you are, please try the following troubleshooting steps.
1. Keep the internet connection disabled and repeat steps 1 to 3 of the previous procedure, then restart. 2. Play a soundtrack stored on your hard disk with Windows Media Player. Are you able to hear it? 3. Restart the computer (internet connection still disabled) and play the same soundtrack. Are you able to hear it? That is what Creative support had me do for my sound issue.

I had issue with Sound Blaster ZxR and Win10_1709_x64. I almost sold sound card to upgrade on Strix RAID DLX. I gave up in lost moment because I fixed with some old driver from 2013 and restriction Sound Blaster Controller update over Hardware ID in gpedit.msc. I was not sure that RAID DLX will be better and working. Some people say buy SB AE-5, some buy RAID DLX... I was lost. Only good thing was because I should add only 20 euro of my money for these sound cards. But I kepT SBZxR. My solution was whole procedure. Removing sound card from computer, unplug Internet Cable, reinstalling Windows, directly 1709 version. Installing basic drivers, Plug Internet and update all Windows Updates. Disable Internet. Install SBZxR and driver from 2013 from DVD in package. Copy Hardware ID for SB Controller, Sound Blaster and Daughter Board in Device Installation Restriction - Prevent Installation of device that match any of these ID, Show and Copy all Hardware ID for everything connected with SB from Device Manager.... restart and Enable Internet Connection. If Windows locate driver for Sound Blaster older than 2017 he will update allone universal for all SB. Like real retarded idiot. Disable driver update not help to stop him to update SB Controller. But my problems was swapping channels. Now even I can;t install new SB driver before delete this and back on default.

One minute after I enable Internet Windows with command Do not Include Driver Updates crazy Windows 10 tried to install new Sound Blaster Controller. He overpass direct order....like that option not exist. Probably serve for nothing because same thing do with NVIDIA Driver. But he couldn't jump over next wall and Hardware ID prevention. And he FAILED... He failed to change my registry for ever. If Windows Install him... Nothing help, uninstall, delete registry, nothing. I couldn't stay with previous version of Windows, I disabled Windows Update, I tried many different things than I start to have problems with Outlook because not installed updates, to ask me password for account constantly and ... simply force you to update on newest version of Windows. This is force, you can't stay on older version because you start to have problems.

Well honestly I wouldn't go through all that trouble, since with mine I can simply hit the SBX pro studio button to turn it off and then back on and problem solved until I put it to sleep or restart/shutdown. As far as sound card goes, it must be integrated into my motherboard because I don't see a sound card otherwise. Edit, yeah it is definitely integrated because there is no actual sound card plugged into motherboard.

If you look in your Task mgr under the start up tab, how many items are related to Creative Technology? There should be two. One is for the control panel and the other is "Creative UpdReg".

I disabled Creative reg... only Sound Blaster Manager is enabled. Less startup programs, faster boot.
