I have one of Epica's albums on my Amazon wishlist. I...think it's their latest album.

How can you guys have a female hard rock/metal thread and none of you mentioned Evanescence?

I admit it has been five years since I've listened to any Evanescence ( didn't know there was a new album last year), so it slipped my mind; Eternal (instrumental) and Lies are among my favorites.  Can't link since official videos were never made.

Though echoing what clo007 mentioned, the first type of anything new that gets popular tends to be the music industry's cue to find similar music in order to ride the wave and make money; "do what works".   I wouldn't go so far to say 'wanabee', but if several bands trace inspiration to the same original, their sound will depend on what else they can bring.

I remember reading that Amy from Evanescence claimed her inspiration was both Linkin Park and Tori Amos, and you can hear it in a couple tracks, that got me.

Well now I know why I liked DRAIN STH right away... There song "Black" uses Ozzy's "No more tears" beat... Not fully of course, but enough I catch myself messing up when enjoying either on our sound system...

One of the women from Drain STH is married to Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath - so comparisons will be made - the song "Black" was co-written by him.

Drain STH reminded me of another, and I've also never seen this video in part because the song seemed like a one hit wonder; maybe someone here was into the band. You guys remember Guano Apes from the late 90's?

First time I couldn't do it either, that's why I never posted any videos before this thread.  I had to first disable the hyperlink, and find the video's identificaton code of numbers and letters (the part after the equals sign).

First toss in the tube html stuff in the begining and end, then the following template "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=" (without the quotations) and your video's id code is 4UOJ5U0jY9k after the equals sign.  So now you try it out yourself next time you read this, test it by hitting preview instead of posting.  Important to break the link, otherwise only that part activates and your link goes nowhere.   I don't know if others have to do it, I just know I have to.  Could be something to do with having IE9, but it is a minor problem.

I think skimming through "In This Moment" was a good idea.
