hi all@EVGA forums,

most of us need internal as well as portable storage solutions.
while looking for such I came across Silicon Power's Stream S03 1TB USB 3.0 portable drive.
after some short research I decided to buy one leading me to this short review to share with you.
let's see how this product looks like and performs.

========= Silicon Power Stream S03 1TB 2,5" USB 3.0 =========
========= Product pictures =========

the packaging is quite simple but informative, you find all you need to know.

the package includes the drive itself, USB cable and a user manual.

the drive itself is really a small light weight and has a rough surface not keeping fingerprints.

========= Performance Tests =========

out of the package the product is already FAT32 formatted and ready to use.
according to Windows Storage Manager the capacity of the drive is 931,51GB.

CristalDiskInfo reports additionally 5400RPM and 16MB buffer, pretty standard.

CristalDiskMark performance with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 is as follows, again no negative surprise.

while connected to USB 2.0 the activity led lights red whereas on USB 3.0 it lights blue, nice detail.

Atto Disk Benchmark was done only on USB 3.0 and looks really good.

========= Conclusion and final thoughts =========

if you are looking for high capacity in a small form factor Silicon Power is providing a nice choice.
compared to similar drives from WD, Seagate and Samsung this drive is not on a par with them but has even a smaller size.

I bought the product for approx. 75$ in my country which is more than reasonable here.

Amazon.com's pricing is at ~84$ right now:

the 3 years-warranty was also an important argument for me.
comparable drives usually come with 2 years of warranty.

while operating the drive is whisper silent, no vibrations at all, and very cool.
even after 24 hour non stop operation there is no considerable increase in it's temperature.

I would honestly give it 9.5 points out of 10.

the only disadvantage I see is the nonproprietary USB header on the driver side.
using standard miniUSB instead would have been a way better choice in my opinion.

thank you all for reading and have a nice time @ EVGA...
