Few factors to consider: how far, do you have the time, and how badly do you want it?

Unless you live in the same town, popping over just for a GPU is likely a waste of time and gas. I went to grab a 5900x, and just checked GPU to confirm my suspicions... nothing but low level GT cards

Depends tbh. You should look up the Microcenter Discord. I follow one for the one down here in Socal. I live about 20 minutes away and they do not restock everyday.

At my two closest local microcenters the situation right now is people are lining up at close *the night before* for a chance at cards, and they (microcenter) won't tell you anything about if they got stock until they open. Sometimes zero cards, sometimes one or two, and very very rarely 10+ cards. So do it at your own risk but it's very likely if you're not there *very* early you won't get anything

If i had the chance, i would definitely try it but it depends on how much you need that gpu. I would try it until i get a gpu that suits my needs :D

WORD OF ADVICE- People get there 2 DAYS before, so you should do the same. Also- microcenter sometimes doesn't follow the sign in sheet, so be careful of people cutting line. Sometimes it gets so crowded and chaotic that people can end up in the front of the line when the time comes, and nobody will say anything. Just be aware that it gets a little hectic is all im saying.

Microcenter has been really good about communicating card availability. I'd call to see when their restock date is. Unfortunately it's not available online. I don't think they'll tell you which cards they're planning on releasing that day though. I might end up camping at one the night before the restock if the queues don't work out for me.

Still very long camping time for not even a guarantee of a card.

Acidline303 Also be aware that with the ti's launching, it's going to bring a few more people out of the woodwork than has been normal for the past month or two
100% Agree. A couple of days ago there was a loong line on a pretty normal day (When my microcenter gets shipments), but with the new cards coming out i expect that "long" line to double or even triple in size. Mostly it's scalpers which is pretty annoying too :|

Not worth it my friend. Gas, wear and tear on your car, food, your time. My local Facebook market is selling 3070 used for $900 now - down from $1400 new in the box last week. So you are better to buy an used one for $900 or less than paying gas, food and time.

I think by this point it is obvious that making the drive and just popping into a store hoping for a chance is not going to work. You will likely need to take off work, and make a dedicated effort to camp out for the card and even then you are not guaranteed anything. I feel you pain.

Here's a leak from a distributor: Depending which city you're in, you can see the kind of stock numbers that are being sent out. For example, I'd be closest to Atlanta, but they're only getting 6 of each model. From those guestimations and depending where you're at in the country. If you pull up, you should be able to estimate from the size of the line whether you have a real chance of getting a card.

Turn it into an adventure. Add a destination to visit along the way back in case it doesn’t work out. Rooting for ya!

I would not recommend it, I live 3 miles from one and there were about 100 people already camping 3 days before launch. I'd think the odds of getting one in person are quite low unless you're literally one of the first 20-50 in line.

Stock isn’t guaranteed on a daily basis and you do need to go first thing in the morning, so my advice would be try to find out what days your microcenter restocks the most, and plan an overnight trip the day before or leave really early in the morning and maybe stay for a day or two to try to grab a card.

It depends on when you go imo. If you're going to do it, you'll probably want to be there for a while. Otherwise there's a good chance that it would just be a waste of time considering how far away you live.

I wouldn't because going a full state away and leaving empty handed would really be a bummer and a waste of time and gas.
