2x BUILD for ESXi v5.1 HOST:
CASE = LIAN LI PC-P80
BOARD = EVGA SRX
CPU = 2x Xeon E5-2665  [ BIOS detected OK ]
RAM = 192 GB DDR3-1600 REG ECC CENTURY  [ BIOS detected OK ]
NIC.1 = Myricom 10G-PCIE2-8B2-2S Dual 10GBE x8 on PCIE Slot #1 [not installed yet]
NIC.2 = Intel X540-T2 Dual 10GBE x8 on PCIE Slot #2 [ BIOS detected OK ]
NIC.3 = Intel i350-T2 Dual 1GBE x4 on PCIE Slot #3 [ BIOS detected OK ]
NIC.4 = Intel i350-T2 Dual 1GBE x4 on PCIE Slot #4 [ BIOS detected OK ]
NIC.5 = Intel i350-T4 Quad 1GBE x4 on PCIE Slot #6 [ BIOS not always  detected ]
GPU = NVIDIA GT610 Fanless x16 on PCIE Slot #7 [ BIOS detected OK ]

BIOS IOH Bifurcation are as follow :

IOH 0 PCIe port Bifurcation Control
IOU1 - PCIe Port [x8]
PORT 1A Link Speed [GEN2]
IOU2 - PCIe Port [x8x8]
PORT 2A Link Speed [GEN2]
PORT 2C Link Speed [GEN2]
IOU3 - PCIe Port [x8x8]
PORT 3A Link Speed [GEN2]
PORT 3C Link Speed [GEN2]

IOH 1 PCIe port Bifurcation Control
IOU1 - PCIe Port [x8]
PORT 1A Link Speed [GEN2]
IOU2 - PCIe Port [x8x8]
PORT 2A Link Speed [GEN2]
PORT 2C Link Speed [GEN2]
IOU3 - PCIe Port [x8x8]
PORT 3A Link Speed [GEN2]
PORT 3C Link Speed [GEN2]

Can someone explain in clear what is the mapping between IOH bifurcation and Physical PCIe Slot ?!!

    IOH 0 PCIe port Bifurcation Control
    IOU1 - PCIe Port [x8] – x4 from this port go to PCH for SAS
     PORT 1A Link Speed [GEN2] – only GEN2 supported
    IOU2 - PCIe Port [x8x8] – If slot PE2 used – should be x8x8, otherwise – x16 for first top PE1 slot
     PORT 2A Link Speed [GEN2] – Any speed supported
     PORT 2C Link Speed [GEN2] – Any speed supported
    IOU3 - PCIe Port [x8x8] – Should be always x16 – this goes to PLX upstream port (input).
     PORT 3A Link Speed [GEN2] – For best speed – GEN3 supported, but can be not reliable, it’s not POR/ BIOS have no test/no tuning
     PORT 3C Link Speed [GEN2]

    thanks for the info so it should be
    LIKE THIS
    PCIE Slot #1 = IOH 0 - IOU2 - Port 1A [x8]
    PCIE Slot #2 = IOH 0 - IOU2 - Port 1C [x8]

    AND THIS ?
    PCIE Slot #3 = IOH 0 - IOU3 - Port 3A [x16]
    PCIE Slot #4 = IOH 0 - IOU3 - Port 3A [x16]
    PCIE Slot #5 = IOH 0 - IOU3 - Port 3A [x16]
    PCIE Slot #6 = IOH 0 - IOU3 - Port 3A [x16]
    PCIE Slot #7 = IOH 0 - IOU3 - Port 3A [x16]

    HOW a single X16 via PLX can accomodate 5 Slots ?
    And where does IOH 1 come into play?

    BIOS IOH Bifurcation corrected as follow :

    IOH 0 PCIe port Bifurcation Control
    IOU1 - PCIe Port [x8
    PORT 1A Link Speed [GEN2]
    IOU2 - PCIe Port [x8x8
    PORT 2A Link Speed [GEN2]
    PORT 2C Link Speed [GEN2]
    IOU3 - PCIe Port [x16
    PORT 3A Link Speed [GEN2]

    IOH 1 PCIe port Bifurcation Control
    IOU1 - PCIe Port [x8
    PORT 1A Link Speed [GEN2]
    IOU2 - PCIe Port [x8x8
    PORT 2A Link Speed [GEN2]
    PORT 2C Link Speed [GEN2]
    IOU3 - PCIe Port [x16
    PORT 3A Link Speed [GEN2]

    STILL
    NIC.5 = Intel i350-T4 Quad 1GBE x4 on PCIE Slot #6 [ BIOS not detected ]
    ANY CLUES ?

    OK i found the culprit:
    PCIE Slot #6 = IOH 0 - IOU1 - Port 1A [x4]

    But the 2 SAS port are also connected to Root Port 1a !!!
    disabling the Storage OPROM & SAS OPROM in the BIOS did the trick

    thank you.

    Actually after numerous reboot for vmnic ordering
    i found out that disabling the 2 OPROM in the bios mentioned in my previous post DOES NOT disable the Patsburg 4 Port SAS everytime!!!

    anyone knows how to disable it so the PCIE Slot #6 is free for my Quad NIC card ?

    Hello,
    I installed a USB 3.0 pci 4x expansion card on slot 7. What should I do?
    At the moment I am not recognized.

    I don't think this issue is related to your problem so you would have better off to make a new post rather than add to a thread that is well over 6 years old.

    In regards to your problem is that the very last slot on the motherboard? If not then try the last slot.

    Specs: AMD 2920X Threadripper, Corsair MP510 M.2, 64GB Corsair RGB Dominator,  ASRock X399 Taichi, Corsair 1000D, EVGA RTX 2080ti Black

    Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF
