Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here has recent NVIDIA GPU's, e.g. Kepler and run these in SLI with multiple monitors? I need to do some more testing when I have the time, but so far it seems that Xorg is unable to use multiple monitors when I have SLI enabled.

I do not use Xinerama or Twinview, but I have two different working multi-monitor setups and both of them only uses the main monitor when I enable SLI. One of my setups involve Xrandr and having all the monitors working together as one big desktop, then the other solution involves different screen's where each monitor will have it's very own desktop.

Thank you.

I tested it here with two GTX660 cards in SLI in Linuxmint14.

I encountered the same problem here. Once SLI was enabled, the second monitor was blank and could not be enabled again. Tested as an extended display, and a separate X session, same results. Tried using the cables on different ports, and the monitor was not even detected on the second card.

Unfortunately we have no fix for this issue at this time.

The newest Nvidia GPUs i can say this works on are the 500 series.  I could get 2 monitors and SLI working.  However.  It did take some work.  And off the top of my head.  I cant remember what i did.  For me it worked in all modes.  Even was able to span across multiple monitors(Not identical).  But sadly i have no way to test the 600 series with those settings.

That is unfortunate. I will try with the latest 325.15 driver when I get home later. If you figure out what you did with the 500 series, I could test that as well on my Titans.

UPDATE: The new 325.15 driver did not help.

Later today i will check again.  To be honest i have been in windows alot lately and have not had SLI on while in ubuntu.  I do remember it would only work right if i had it set to SFR.

I'm running 3 monitors with Surround on a GTX 670 4gb. Tonight I get my second GTX 670 for my SLI setup. So I will definitely be making this work if it can be done. I will post my results over the next couple days.   :-)

I realized i had not tested this with 13.04. Testing there, sadly i got the same results.  Except one time.  Where i got both monitors.  But neither was usable(Where the mouse was, and where i clicked always failed to match+distorted)  This was with my old 12.04 xorg.conf.   Making a new one and starting over.  The best i could get was SLI on, and one usable monitor(other one asleep).  If i get more time.  I will play with it again.  But it appears to be an issue within unity or within the drivers. :(.  Judging by the same results in linux mint.  I would have to guess its the drivers.

Thank you for the responses. It is unfortunate that you did not get it working either, Swmmrman. I think it might be the drivers as well.

I will await your results with great interest, btodd1.

My SLI setup was a success. I had 3 monitors in Surround with one GTX 670 before I started. When I got done with SLI I could only run one. But I went into windows control panel and NVidia surround setup and was able to get two working. Then I configured the 3rd monitor in windows display settings. When I click surround it still goes to one. but when I click optimize for 3D  I can use 3 monitors. Just not the surround version where you can get one background to stretch the span of 3 monitors. Hope this helps! I will continue to try the surround setup and report back. Thanks,

    Btodd,

Was this in Windows or Linux.  I have mine working great in Windows.  Its just Linux I have this issue with.  Specifically Ubuntu(Only linux install i have).  If you have this working in ubuntu, can you post a copy of your xorg.conf?  Id really like to see how you got this working.

It kind of sounds like you did this in Windows, btodd1? Our problem is getting this to work in Linux (Gentoo in my case). We are in the Linux section of EVGA's forums as well.

Yes Sir! I apologize, I did not see the Linux mentioned at the top. I am working within windows. And I was having a bit of trouble which I did resolve so I put the two things together and must have missed the OS part. Sorry if I wasted your time. :0)

    No worries, Bret.

At least now we know and can only hope this get's fixed by Nvidia if it indeed a driver issue.
