SK Hynix Announces Availability of 16 Gb DDR4 Chips, up to 256 GB DIMMs

Not only will the new components enable the company to build high-capacity memory modules using fewer chips, but also it will enable SK Hynix and its partners to build 256 GB DDR4 memory modules for ultra-high-end servers. It remains to be seen if this will reduce the prices to customers and companies.

    No big shock with a few companies already having announced 16 GB GDDR6 modules - one of them SK Hynix.
     

    Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
     I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

    Music producers will be all over this, they commonly have 128 gb systems as it is since random access memory is so important for them to quickly splice snippets of music.

    GigaBIT, not GigaBYTE.
     
    Not sure why music producers would need crazy levels of RAM, even at CD-level sampling data rates it only takes about 1.3 gigabyte/minute for 64 channels - unless they're mixing an entire albumn in RAM?
    Video on the other hand at HD or higher resolutions chews through RAM fast....
