Hi guys, I recently got my 3090 ftw3. The card all stock with its hitting around 85c/87c again everything is stock. While playing the fans of the card are constantly at 90%. Is that normal ?

No, but not knowing any computer specs (especially what case you have, what fan setup / airflow / ambient temperature) we can't help much.

Standard answer knowing nothing of what your setup is: take the side of your case off. If temperatures improve a lot, you have an airflow problem.

I got mine yesterday and having the same issue,  there is allot of hot air coming out of the fins, it maybe too close from your tempered glass panel.  I have an evga DG-87 case. I may have to try
    a vertical setup.

    Cheers!

My 3090 FTW3 Ultra runs around 70C on the OC VBIOS (more aggressive fans).

However, my case is massive and has tons of fans sucking in cool air - including two 180mm fans on the side of the case blowing cool air right onto the GPU.

I suggest, again, removing the side of your case to see if that improves your GPU temperature. If it does, your case needs more airflow. I go for positive pressure since it's easy, but that's just me and I don't mind dusting.

Hmm that is concerning as I have the same DG-87 case as well.
I know with my 2080 Ti FTW3 I never see GPU temps get over 65c.

Trust me from my experience so far with a 3080 FTW, you either need a very large case, or you in general need a lot of space between the card and the side panel. Aside from the obvious enough fans and good airflow etc. I have a small mid tower case with plenty of airflow but my glass side panel (which holds a lot of heat because its glass) is very close to the exhaust area of the card. With my side panel on my card is hitting 85C with fans at 70%. When I remove the side panel, I go down almost 10C. My case airflow is great, I have tested it. But my space inside is small. These cards need lots of space.

You have an open air case but you have a side panel that might be close to the card. I think that is the issue personally but I am not an expert I have just been doing my own testing.

How quickly does it spike? In seconds?

If it's like, 2 seconds to reach that temp then you likely have bad contact between the GPU die and the heatsink. That is definitely grounds for RMA (bad contact with the cold plate, no thermal paste? (unlikely on that last one, but a possibility)).

If you aren't comfortable doing a repaste, I suggest getting ahold of EVGA and starting an RMA (after they do some troubleshooting with you, likely): https://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

These GPUs surely need lots of air flow.  What are the ambient temps?  Hiding in a cabinet?  Too many variables as you'll see those with lower temps with the proper environment for these power GPUs.

I have this case as well the DG-87 and my 3090 ftw3 doesn't go over 65-67. is your Fan settings on auto? If so make sure your Fan Curves settings are on

For reference, my 3090 FTW3 Ultra hits about 62-64C under load in FS2020. I’m running with render resolution turned up to approximate VR loads. Clock is hitting about 1.95GHz.

Ventilation is key. My fans also are at 100% at 60C.

So far, mine just shreds whatever I throw at it. I haven’t undervolted or overclocked yet, either. Still running stock but looking forward to undervolting.

But it is a bit of a heater, though. I‘ve got one 120mm fan on my case door blowing air into the box below the 3090 fan intakes and another 120mm door fan grabbing hot air above the card and blowing it out of the case. I need to draw up and print a couple of ducts to better separate hot and cold air outside the box so there isn’t as much mixing outside the door, but overall temps are really good. I have the card fans hitting 100% at 60C so there is some noise but the box contains most of it.

Two 120mm fans on the case front blowing air into the box, two 120mm fans on the CPU radiator blowing air up and out the top of the box. One fan blowing out the top back of the box, and another down low on the power supply blowing out the bottom back. The expansion slot blankoff plates are all ventilated and the entire bottom of the case is a filter. The fans are all speed controlled by the mobo except for the FTW3 fans.

With lots of ventilation, the card runs relatively cool even under heavy loads.

I've been building my own PCs since the early '90s and I've learned that exhausting the hot air is the most important. With my PC I have most of my case fans exhausting and only a couple in the front blowing in. My side panel next to my EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra has two 140mm fans but they are exhausting. It could be that you have an air pressure issue and the air is getting turbulent inside your PC and not going out fast enough so it just turns into a rising hot air whirlwind assisted by the GPU fans.

    An analogy:
It's like whenever one of my kids burns Raman Noodles because they leave it on the stove and go watch TV and forget about it. Or they put in a microwave popcorn bag and set it for 10 minutes. I have to take a big shop fan and open the back door and set the shop fan to blow out the back door to get the smoke out. If I just used the shop fan to blow into the kitchen/house it would just cause the smoke to swirl around inside the house.

An old-timer test: Take your side panel off and blow a portable fan into your case at different speeds to help you determine if you have a cooling issue or not.

    Good Luck.

That's what I seem to notice.  What you really need is a way to mount a fan or a couple fans.  So that they feed cooler air directly under the card to be sucked in by the fans on the gpu.  Like even if you could put a house fan by your case to blow at the card.  Then if your temps don't drop you might have an issue with your card or the fans on it.

If you look at posts with pictures you'll start to notice some trends with ones running hot versus the ones running at lower temps.

I had an old GTX 260 (yes, the old one with flames on the side!) that went bad out of warranty. The temps would shoot way up, and no matter what fan configuration I put on it, it would regularly go over 90C within 10 seconds. I did a teardown and replaced the paste, more than once in fact, but no good, it still stayed super hot. If you determine that airflow isn't helping, and aren't comfortable with reapplying paste, I would start an RMA. If you do reapply paste and it's still hot, start an RMA. I know it sucks because of how hard these are to get, but you'd be better off in the long run.
