Rockstar releases surprise updates for LA Noire and Max Payne 3 on PC - Free DLC for everyone | OC3D News (overclock3d.net) Rockstar Games has released some surprise updates for some of their classic PC titles, issuing new updates for Max Payne 3 and LA Noire, giving all owners of the game "all previously released DLC" for free. These new updates will also depreciate each game's support for 32-bit operating systems; however, it is worth noting that this new update to LA Noire has no impact on the game's VR version, LA Noire: The VR Case Files. Rockstar has full release notes for these new Max Payne 3 and LA Noire updates on their website, detailing the free DLC content that PC gamers now have access to. At this time, it is unknown why Rockstar has issued these updates for such old PC titles, though these updates may be laying the groundwork for future Xbox Game Pass for PC releases for both of these games. The reasoning for this update is unclear in my opinion, but it could be a way to make the game more attractive.

LA Noire one of my favorites...will have to download. I haven't played Max Payne 3 in a very long time...

My Max Payne is a Steam version...wonder if it gets the update...guess I will have to download to see *Looks like it...tons of complaints that it no longer launches properly....will keep an eye on this one

It's nice to see them updating older games like that to include the DLC for free. They've made their money, and now its a way to draw people into the games that maybe haven't already, or bring folks back who didn't want to pay for the DLC.

Wow. This should be done more often, but good on Rockstar. I think I already had the DLC pass for LA Noire but would love to play through again sometime.

LA Noire is one of the few games I have seen more memes than gameplay of it. Good to see Rockstar give these older titles some life.

Max Payne was one the original was one of my favorite games. I need to look into getting Max Payne 3 and see how it is.

It seems like a goodwill move, I wonder if the dlc was still even selling much at this point. Also sounds like they are removing some support for 32 bit systems, maybe they had a bunch of support tickets for those, so it was a good tradeoff, remove the support for 32 bit, and give away dlc to make up for any bad press for removing support.

LA Noire comes locked at 30fps by default, but you can mod it to run at 60 FPS - it really improves the experience. Make sure to search how on Youtube if you're playing

Has Rockstar actually done something like this before, seems pretty unusual for them.
Not unusual in general though, once a company has mostly "exhausted" a game DLC's profitability it simply becomes more attractive to include all the DLC for free and make the base game as attractive as possible for purchasing, even including most or all of the precious previous "pre-order exclusives!". Also keep in mind LA Noira was developed by Team Bondi, not Rockstar, they're just mostly the publisher for that (awesome) game. Rockstar did make Max Payne 3, also awesome in its own way though sadly a bit of a departure in gameplay terms from the previous titles made by Remedy to allow it to be played on controllers and console hardware of the time.
