The original was a true hardcore PC game. As have been other Tripwire games like Killing Floor. I have high hopes for this one.

It's certainly not a game for everyone. It's pretty thrilling to do things like play as an anti-tank soldier, creeping through the trees and lying down in tall grass as enemy tanks roll by, then popping up and blasting them right through their rear armor, or spending 5 minutes sneaking behind a machine gunner's position to get the jump on him. I think a lot of people are turned off by the realistic elements -- it's difficult to come in from a more fast-paced shooter where you can sustain multiple hits to one where you die with ridiculous ease. I enjoy the game because it rewards you for persistence and patience as well as skill. I'd bet that most of the preorders they've had have been RO1 players though!

Yea for what they're charging it's definitely a steal. I mean they went out of their way to get into the actual battle sites, map out the same buildings, and try to get as much historical accuracy into the game. No one has really done that in a WW2 game.

I pre ordered as well. I have really been looking forward to this for a while. I honestly cant stand most shooters but this really sounds good with the bullet physics and bullet penetration modeled.

About time there's some good WW2 action again, the amount of modern warfare that has been coming out is worse than the amount of WW2 games that were coming out years ago. How people can want to play modern warfare (that aren't even real wars just fantasy crap with americans instead of Orks) and not kill a bunch of Russians is beyond me.

It looks way better than COD WAW. and i really liked WaW but this game is like a mix of BF2, Arma2, and COD2 and is just pure win.

    and another...
Rising Storm is a total conversion modification for the eagerly awaited WWII First-person Shooter, Heroes of Stalingrad: Red Orchestra; based on the Pacific campaign of 1941-45. It is unique in that it is a mod in which there is financial compensation for the development team from the backing studio.

Rising Storm covers the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese army and Special Naval Landing Forces. Featuring some of the most brutal fighting in the Pacific theater, players are able to experience beach assaults, jungle fighting, close quarters cave fighting and more across Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and many other historic locations. The player is able to take the part of either side – American or Japanese –playing through the Campaign Mode alone or with friends, or battling it out online in full player versus player multi-player.
Rising Storm is being created in a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a mod team and a professional game development studio. The Rising Storm team is made up of the best developers from the Red Orchestra modding community and the mod community at large.

RO2 delayed for 2 weeks, new date September 13
    http://www.pcgamer.com/20...d-orchestra-2-delayed/
The team say they need a bit of extra QA time to iron out a few bugs and make sure Red Orchestra 2 is as polished as possible when it comes out.

Looks like they found a handful of bugs in the beta testing, and you know what, I say take as long as they need to. This is a PC exclusive game that cost less than $50, this delay only shows Tripwire's commitment to quality
