I read an article and have seen several videos regarding ray tracing on the 16 series. Specifically, the 1660TI/Super cards being capable of doing ray tracing. How can I activate it (assuming its real)? Is it a driver?

You enable ray tracing by simply enabling it in whatever game you're playing that supports it. It's not just a global toggle the game has to specifically support it. Having said that, 16 series cards lack any acceleration for ray tracing as they simply do not have RT cores on board. All ray tracing calculations are run on the shaders which is HUGELY taxing and really not gonna be worth it on a 16 series card.

You need an RTX card for hardware support for ray tracing etc

That hasn’t been true since 2019. Hardware acceleration on an RTX is preferred, but NVidia enabled ray tracing through software only. https://www.google.com/am...-gtx-gpu-graphics-cardDevelopers may disable RTX on nonRTX cards, but that doesn’t mean raytracing cores are required.

Of games I have installed the spot the RTX card and offer features that are not seen on GTX cards or Radeon

The first part of your post makes no sense to me, maybe I am just not reading it properly. Are you trying to say it isn’t possible?

A reminder that the 1660ti should also work with AMD FSR

veganfanatic Of games I have installed the spot the RTX card and offer features that are not seen on GTX cards or Radeon Completely incorrect. Nvidia has enabled ray tracing on GTX 1060 and up as of 2019 https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/geforce-gtx-ray-tracing-coming-soon/ Here is a few tests with someone running ray tracing on a GTX 1660 Super. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqrMkmRSBbs Again, it's far from "optimal" but it will in fact run DXR instructions over the shaders. It lacks RT cores for acceleration, but it will work.

Hey... maybe nvidia could release an RTX accelerator like the old Ageia card.... I keeed I keeed!

It depends on the game they are trying to run. Some will just have the feature greyed out even if the card should be able to support it in software rendering. Of course supporting it in software and running at a playable level are two different things so it's probably why the developer doesn't allow it to be enabled.
