Now that I got my RTX 3090 Ti's, they work great and lots of fun so far. :) I noticed in NVCP that there's a new setting called "ECC State" with 'enable' and 'disable' as options. It's disabled by default and was wondering what this does?
Can someone explain in layman's terms? Thanks.

It's error correction code. I imagine it helps with stability at the cost of performance in production and AI based tasks.

It means the card could support ECC memory. The thing is no consumer cards come with ECC.

Sure looks like the 3090 ti might be a test bed for 40 series leaks

It is a testbed for the 40 series, but the 3090 Ti is not the first consumer Nvidia card to have ECC support. You can find info on the internet about consumer Nvidia cards supporting ecc all the way back to 2009. https://www.realworldtech.com/fermi-ecc/ It will not happen in the consumer space.

ECC should happen in the consumer space. There's a huge bump in reliability. For the type of workloads you get into as you're using 24GB+ of video memory, 64GB+ of system memory, etc. - you can't afford any errors which translates to downtime. Yeah, not something I need for Fortnite. Well, maybe...if I'm top 3. :)

Can you overclock the vram (thinking a mild +250) on the 3090 ti with ECC state enabled?

I don't see why you couldn't. ECC memory is simply error correction code. Most workstations/servers that use ECC is for reliability when executing a task.
