I like how EVGA has effectively cancelled the program for Europe without even feeling the need to comment. If we don't hear anything this week they have reached their goal. I won't step-up but I will also never touch their stuff again.

IKR it's disgraceful. People were telling me EVGA customer support they're the best yada yada. Quite franky i'll just choose ASUS from now on.

So, I just called customer support and was told that EVGA in Europe has higher prices because they have no warehouses here and the cards are shipped directly from Hong-Kong. So the european prices are much higher. He also told me that the MSRP for the 3090FTW3 in europe is 2189€... They want customers to use other etailers instead of using their store. I could not believe this and asked him to check again, he just said I should contact them via mail instead. Which I did. I also asked him to check the forums and that we would love to have an official statement on this matter. So to me that sounds like EVGA is almost abandoning the whole european market, except for retailers, which will be provided with cards, going on. But just speculation. Let's wait for something official.

I find that MSRP really hard to believe when a known high price retailer like Caseking offers a significantly lower price. But it's possible. If so, nobody should buy this card when you can get a much cheaper card with the same or better quality (Asus TUF/Strix/FE...). At the same time, it's a disgrace how the price of the 3080 step-up was increased multiple times. Still waiting for that listed 3090 XC as well. But it will also be ridiculously priced, so who cares at this point. Question, is it worth it to trade in my 2080S for an FTW3 for 300€+? Considering I will probably wait 6 months and better cards with more memory are out by then, I don't think so. This program is useless now.

Got an email from EVGA EU Support, bolded important parts, but take it with a grain of salt: thank you for contacting our support.
We're sorry for the timely delay, because since the launch, our data base was overloaded and therefore an update of that wasn't done properly yet.
But you are now seeing the card added to the list and therefore you can proceed with the Step-Up if you want.
Please take note, that this price will be adjusted during the process. It is most likely not the final price, that you have seen yet.
But to make sure, that it will be looked on, we have forwarded to our Step-Up-Team and Management, that they are able to adjust it accordingly.
If you have any further questions, don't hestitate and contact us again.
Best regards,
EVGA EU Customer Support

See to me that sounds like they’re only gonna hike the price up even more. And the excuse of having no warehouses in Europe is mind boggling. Why skip such a large part of the world all because you can’t store your cards? I’m regretting getting a 2070S to step up with now but I guess I’m in too deep to turn back now. Will be the last card I buy from EVGA in Europe that’s for sure. **Edit** Just checked their store policy and it states that their VAT is based off their warehouse in the Netherlands. Why is everything getting shipped from Hong Kong? And why hasn't the store policy been amended if it’s the case that the Netherlands Warehouse has been abolished. Having us paying these prices in the midst of a pandemic is a joke.

Whats the price at the moment? Too bad, seemed like a good option to continue gaming while waiting for the 3080 :(

Thanks for the update! That gives me a bit of hope knowing that even though I've already started my Step Up that maybe they will reduce the price before it is all finalised........just hopefully not further increase it.

It is my assumption as well that the double VAT will be corrected. A buddy of mine from The Netherlands was shown the MSRP of €840,- incl. VAT while signing up for the 3080FTW3 step-up on September 17th. However I just signed up today and was shown the double VAT price of €1017,-. In my opinion a reputable brand like EVGA wouldn't charge some customers €840,- and others much more, so they definitely should correct it.

Why doesnt EVGA respond to this? I really want to become an EVGA customer, but this makes me a little worried, just want to know the price including VAT (Netherlands over here) for stepping up from a 2080s.

I just spoke to EVGA support and the website should be updated in 1-2 days as the EU team is aware of the issue. Everyone who applied while the wrong price was shown will be send an email about it as well. @kwdtje The price for the EVGA 3080FTW3 Ultra should be €840,- including VAT for The Netherlands.

Ok that makes perfect sense. My price is 833.05 which is correct considering it includes VAT for Austria(20%) when compared to the Netherlands(21%) :) I feel relieved now to not have to pay a insance price like 1k.

EVGA support as already stated to myself and several others that the prices will be fixed in a day or two. I would call that direct feedback or you can contact them yourself. Be patient, you have a few months to go till they start shipping step-up cards in Europe anyhow.

Interestingly, they have now removed the 3090 XC3 from the European list. I wonder if it was a mistake from the start or if it will get added at a later date.

The thing is, I can only return my original card - from which I try to step up - for another 5 days, so I need an official and fix answer soon, or I will return the card and forever say goodbye to EVGA - it's just that simple. Right now, noone knows the exact price for the 3090... 1500-2200€ thats way to vague. edit: Imagine - entering a store, trying to buy something off the shelf. And the vendor AND manufacturer then telling you: I don't know how much it is.

Provided you're in the step up queue, the 90 days is waived and when it's your turn, you can still step up. However, you must remain in the queue and if you leave, you cannot rejoin if you're passed the 90 days.

Yeah, I know that. But the following thing could happen: I keep my 500€ Card and do not return it to the retailer - I get a notificiation that my step up to a 3090 is rdy - but it could be 2189€. That ouf course is much too expensive. So I do not want to do the step up then. Unfortunately I can then no longer return my 500€ card to the retailer because the 30-day EU Return Period is passed. For a perspective once again. EVGA currently wants 2134€ in the step up progress for their 3090FTW3 including taxes. At the same time, a big german Etailer (caseking.de) has the same card, including taxes for 1689€ - which is 450€ less. That 450€ difference is almost the amount I paid for my current card in the first place. So if I would take part in the step up program, I would basically give away my current card for free - which is just dumb and the whole step up process is useless and senseless for any european customer.

I am not sure what EVGA does with their step-up stock, but I cannot imagine they flip it at huge profits. So, once people realized they can get their 3080 card later and use a new 20 series card meanwhile, the amount of step-up requests probably shot through the roof. I even read people suggested the scheme and called it interest free graphics card loan. It's a clear abuse of the program, even though with the current EVGA policy is allowed. What's EVGA left to do? Keep giving those 3080's away and take the used 20's stock? I am sure they would lose ton of money. I won't lie, I considered the same strategy. But what deterred me was the fact that I am at a mercy of a business that is not even obliged to fulfill the promise, which is a red flag. They can even scrap the program altogether without any notice, it's all there in the FAQ! Of course, it's not likely as it will cause a huge uproar, so pricing is the only reasonable instrument they have to not make the program a huge financial loss to the company. While I genuinely hope the pricing is a mistake and will be corrected - I wouldn't be surprised if the final prices are far higher than originally listed, and step-up is a gamble where the odds are against the customer. I think everyone has to decide for themselves - will they be happy to keep their old card if step up doesn't go through? If the answer is no, then it's probably not worth a hassle.

Looking at the EVGA store, it looks to me like the prices have been fixed? I can't check in the step-up list without losing the queue again. xD

It isn't worth losing the place in the queue!

I can confirm that I'm now also seeing a reduced price in the EU store but that my original Step up quote is still showing the double VAT price. I'm not risking cancelling my que position to get the cheaper card showing. Hopefully the person assessing my claim will adjust the price as suggested by a previous comment on this thread.

I actually left the queue and rejoined, would rather be on the safe side. What i can tell you is the price quoted to me was €1,877 tho so looks like things are back to normal. Hope EVGA don't try to force you into paying the above price since you did technically agree to those terms.
