I've had the 3080 XC3 Ultra for about 4 weeks now, and having some issues with my fans.  Just wanted to check with everyone if these are actual issues with the card or more software related.  I have the latest drivers + have run the evga firmware upgrades.
 
1. x1 Precision is either detecting just Fan 1 or all 3 fans (not able to determine why it only detects 1 fan sometimes)
2. Sometimes only fan 1 and 2 are spin while fan 3 does not, however I noticed when this happens the 2 fans go into overdrive while fan 3 just stays still.  Only fix is to reset my PC which seems to fix it for a while (until 1 fan stops spinning again).
 
Anyone else running into fan issues?
 
 
 
 

Yep, just double checked I am on the latest version 1.1.0.11.  Trouble is, it seems to be intermittent issue and just started about a week ago.  Just wondering if anyone is also having this issue or if it's just the model i have.

Well quick update, I flipped the bios switch on my card and the fan is still not spinning. Think I'll have to RMA this. I'm starting to really regret buying an EVGA card.

The connectors all seem fully connected for the fans. The fan itself shows up in the precision X1 software, it just doesn't respond.

Give EVGA a yell in the morning, maybe they have encountered it before and know how to fix it without needing an RMA, or possibly it's a dead fan but I would have thought QC would have caught that. Please let us know what happens either way in case others have the same issue.
 

Thanks yeah I filled out a ticket for tech support. I'm just frustrated because I already had to replace my PSU to get the card working in the first place so it seems like one problem after another. Hoping I don't have to go through a full RMA process but I'm pretty sure the fan is busted at this point. Will update this thread with whatever happens.
 
I might try reseating the card into the slot tomorrow. For now I put in the ol faithful GTX 970 back in until I get a response from eVGA support.

Well I reseated my card and the fan ain't spinning still just for sanity check and am still waiting on EVGA support to get back to me.

I suggest giving our support a call.  Due to the volume of tickets and emails we're receiving, it may take several days to hear back from us.

Sounds good, I'm starting to notice that the issue occurs when I am using MSI after burner but not when I'm using X1 now.  Not sure what fixed it but it seem okay for now.

I got the card today and same exact problem! 3rd fan is not spinning at all (noticed through Precision X1) and other two are spinning at full boost (and loud) when gaming. Strange..

One thing, what is the best way to get in-game fps shown without (without using MSI afterburner + RTSS combo) then? I think Precision X1 does not support it.

I got a final solution with these fans issues and I'm sure it 100% works.(Assuming your fan isn't damaged)
Before fixing this you will need to spend some time learn how to use nvflash, here is how I solve this problem myself:
1. My graphics card is EVGA XC3 ULTRA RTX 3080, so to fix this I choose a new BIOS from ASUS TUF version that also has 2x8 pin connectors,(if you are FTW3 or other 3x8 pin cards, go to techpowerup and find other 3x8 pin cards BIOS from other factories, this new BIOS SHOULD NOT BE FROM EVGA !)
 
2. start a quick learn with nvflash usage and download nvflash from techpowerup website, always put the BIOS file and nvflash.exe in a same folder, and use nvflash to overwrite your BIOS:
open cmd,
cd your-nvflash-location
 
nvflash -6 the-other-AIBS-bios.rom
Remember: an -6 command here is really important if you not contain that it will be a failure.
AFTER THIS YOUR GRAPHICS WILL NOT DISPLAY AT ALL, SO IF YOUR CPU HAS NO INTEGRATED GRAPHIC OR OTHER GRAPHICS CARD, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO DO THIS. (PS: the F version Intel CPU and AMD RYZEN DOES NOT HAVE a graphics inside.)
 
3. After the flash you will need to connect the display to your cpu integrated graphics, usually just plug in to the HDMI/DP on your motherboard behind. 
 
4. When login to your system again, go to techpowerup Download your card's original BIOS from techpowerup, I'm sure 100% you can find it. Then use nvflash again:
nvflash -6 your-card's-original.rom
Remember an -6 command here is really important if you not contain that it will be a failure.
 
5.After the flashing back, reboot your computer and connect your monitor back to the graphic card, when login to your system you will need to reinstall your NVIDIA drivers, all the fan will works now.
 
This is the experience of how I fixed the problem, I still recommend to use MSI Afterburner to control your graphics, because the problem only occurs while I'm using Precision X1, I hope this experience can help you guys :)
 
 

You can try my solution, choose a BIOS from another manufactor, flash it and flash back. My card works fine after that.

That's fine, up to you, there are multiple tutorials on YouTube about how to flash the vBIOS, and it will not void warranty because it can be flashed back to normal. I'm very sure that their answer to your ticket is ask you to request for a RMA :) However if you want, you definitely can solve this problem yourself.

At default settings without Precision X1, the fan won't spinning until your GPU temp over 50(or 60? I don't remember). If the issue still remains after you tried to control your fan manually via Precision X1, then you can try my solution, hopefully it works.
