I just wanted to share my experience with these component that many people have a lot of questions but few posts about this.

I wanted to cool my GPU as it was reaching temperatures of 81 deg Celsius max. and normally around 76 at load. My first attempt was with a Thermaltake water 3.0 Extreme S. It cooled the GPU to around 60-65 degrees so not very impressive. The pump had a problem and a weird noise so i returned the item and in the middle of it I found the EVGA CLC 240 in sale at around $79. I changed the cooler and just today I installed and added some personalized heatsincs for the VRM.

Results: now my GPU runs at 95% in rainbow 6 with a clock of 1950Mhz or more, pump at 20-30%, radiator fan at 20% and I get average 42-45 and max 46 degrees. So I would definitely recommend this mod to the graphics card and would have a ton of headroom in you are into OC.
 
Some stuff to consider:
1)Because of the square shape, the mount will be skewed, the normal kraken screws would not fit I had to use the CPU adapters that came with the cooler EVGA cooler. First you need to remove the spring from original screw, put it side by side with the threads of the original and adapter screw. If they are the same the thread, they will con-inside and match at each groove. once you confirm this, put spring in adapter (wont stay in place) but you need to align and screw the G12 braket in several steps so pressure is distributed evenly and considering when is too much as you may damage the GPU die if it is too much so just be gentle, this is no engine.It seems this would happen in the RTX series and AMD cards as you have to use the AMD braket in the NZXT kit.
2) I am using stock pre-applied paste and haven't found any problem with it, because there are some wild claims that it is crap but it works flawlessly.
3)I am Using it in a NZXT H500i case.Fans and pump are being controlled using Cam Software tied to GPU temps and Kraken bracket fan to MB with constant 75% speed.
4)For some card models some people report the need for a copper shim or to dremel some arms that wont allow for the cooler to contact the GPU die. In the case of the RTX2080 FE you wont need to do this. So do some research and find if you card will fit without problem, or prepare to use a copper shim.

The problem was not contact, I even used another thermal paste, the Artic MX-4, both time there where signs of full contact. The unit I returned had a weird pump sound, and I even run constantly a 75% because the sound would dissapear. RPM's where high so i don't think it was a pump issue. 
What I think It is, is the pump gen as I believe the EVGA uses Gen 5 and thermaltake a older gen. Plus I believe EVGA has a better fluid. 
Sound was better with TT, fans in the EVGA model seems to be very powerful and they push air very easely, but at high RPM they are loud. You can buy new fans or do like me, that I sacrificed a few degrees 3-7 to run at 20% up to 40C and then 50% at 60C, and 80% at 75C. Sound is not a problem anymore with the EVGA.

How are you cooling the areas in Yellow?
I missed an area on the left side of the card. Seems the Memory would burn up real quick.

On one side, the G12 has a fan and I've measured temps, so they don't go above 60C, normally range between 38-55 even the side without active cooling. Vram is supposed to handle high temps than core from what other posts suggest and performance wise there hasn't been any throttling which suggest everything is running fine. Ill keep measuring and if there are concerns Ill post it here.

 70 is not bad, I have the back plate on, though you need some bolt and nut or other method to hold it. From testing I would recomend a 240mm radiator because more would be an overkill, you wont have lower temps. So a 140-240 is enough to lower it below 50C, and this is a OC 2080.

 yeah they are pads for the chokes and VRAM. they actually get cooled by the kraken fan included (active cooling). And even then the components from my measurements stay between 38-55 and a few times 60. So I even think with the stock cooler they get heated even more as they share the same block with the hotter gpu core...

something to consider is the the post is 6 years old and the models used are quite old now. From personal testing with infrared thermometer, temps range from 38-55 and only twice momentarily reached 60 (Tested in Heaven, PUBG, R6)
From what I see, it depends on the graphics card mostly and if you're like me, you would put an aggressive fan curve to the Kraken G12 fan, so at 50 degrees it's already at 100%.
