I wanted to know if these RAMs have the maximum speed that my 780i mobo is compatible with:
http://www.newegg.ca/Prod...x?Item=N82E16820231283

I already have 2x2GB(4GB in total) DDR2 800, do you guys think I should add another 4 more to my DDR2 800 or should I buy 4x2GB DDR2 1200 if it's compatible with my mobo.

Thanks in advance.

According to manual (below link), your board should be able to support the memory in the provided link, and it should be able to support 8GB of RAM.  As far as running 8GB of RAM, unless you are rendering video, or running 30 virtual machines, 4GB is more then adequate for most folks.  Having said that, 8GB of 1200Mhz RAM will place more stress on the memory controller then 8GB of 800Mhz RAM, and will require more setting adjustments to maintain stability.  As to suggesting which way to go, 4GB or 8GB; 800Mhz or 1200Mhz....my question to you is, do you really need 8GB of RAM?

You probably know about this already, but I'm throwing it out there just in case
    http://www.evga.com/support/motherboard/

Can't go wrong with any of those!

If you do a search in the NewEgg customer reviews for the RAM you linked will find this

"Cons: I have a 780i 3 ways SLI Mobo.. Its seems like i can not get it to pass 800...stating would work at 1200mhz ...
Same as alots of people ...Should have read it b4 bought it....."
Might be something to look into.
This might be true that the RAM won't go over 800, but then again there are many people that don't know how to set the RAM up in their BIOS.

If it was me, I would sell the memory you have and get these instead...

The latency on these are way better. If you really do? need 8G, the fastest speed they will run is 1088 MHz anyhow. But really, it's 1080 MHz because that's what speed works with a known good divider.

If I get these, will I have to set up the memory clock manually?

So if I get the ones that I posted initially and set the bios tCL 6 - tRCD 6 - tRP 6 - tRAS 18. Memory Voltage set to 2.0V will it work fine?

And another question I have is do you guys think it's worth it when it comes to gaming to get the DDR2 1200 ones or should I get another 4 GB 800? In other words will it make much difference is what I'm saying.

If gaming is your priority then I refer you back to post #3, do you need 8 gigs? As VistaHead said unless your rendering video etc. 8 gigs is completely pointless and just puts more stress on the controller. That said you can only run your ram as fast as your FSB if you can get 1200 out of your FSB then I would get 1200Mhz 2 gig kit. If you want 8 gigs then I would go with the 800Mhz kit, but there is a good chance you will have to run looser timings then 6-6-6-18.

What is the maximum speed that I can get without setting the speed myself. I don't wanna spend 2-3 hours trying to set the speed on the RAM.

800 per JEDEC standards, the EPP profiles where supposed to set the performance speeds for you but I never had good luck with them. You will not see much difference between 800 to 1200mhz while gaming or doing much else for that matter. take look at this and follow the stable settings. http://img.techpowerup.org/090116/straps.jpg

also remember running 8gigs anything above stock speed will require your input of setting and testing, testing and testing.
