Hyperthreading:

When its enabled it says my processor name and 2 CPUs during bios startup. when its disabled, it says my processor name and 4 CPUs.

My cpu is a core 2 quad q6600. will this make a difference in my 3dmark scores?

The Intel Q6600 does not support Hyper-Threading Technology.

because, when the computer starts up it says, Hyper-threading capable CPU has been detected. Hyper-s been enabled.

Mine did the same thing the first time I booted up, even with the latest BIOS installed. Just disable, you do not want to just run on 2 of your 4 cores....otherwise you would not have purchased a Quad...Right?

the weird thing is that on my cpu reader on one of the windows widgets, it is in fact running 4 cores. this is so weird.

Check your Windows Device Manager > Processors. If only 2 are showing (and you have disabled HT in BIOS) then, uninstall the two-reboot-go back and check that it is now showing 4 processors.

I too have just realized that when i changed a setting in my bios it now says hyper threading capable cpu found. Hyper threading enabled. I know my Q6600 isn't suppose to support HT but i have increased performance now. Maybe intel just disabled HT but the technology is actually in the cpu.
