Again I tried on my machine same thing wont save plus , did you notice that you have GSYNC logo in UEFI ? you can see it on the top left corner !

I think EVGA simply disabled it instead of you know not include to save money I wonder if we can turn it on :/

By "UEFI", I think you mean BIOS. I don't think it was just disabled. The non-G-Sync panels just don't support it. It is supported on external monitors though.

Yes. It works quite well with my external G-Sync monitor too.

Are you using Precision X Mobile with a SC-15 or SC-17? While we did not note it clearly on the release notes, the fan curve support is only for the SC-15 at this time. It will not work correctly on the SC-17.

I didn't mess around with the fan curve before, but I can confirm that it resets upon reboot on my SC17 1080 as well.
The product page for this model does mention custom fan curve like the SC15 page.  It does work though, just that it resets upon reboot, so not very useful if it has to be redone every time, with no option to at least save the profile.

I can't get precisionx mobile to launch.  I tried compatibility modes, turning off firewall, and all I get is a brief (half second) circle on my mouse cursor.  I opened task manager and PrecisionX will briefly show up(half second) then disappear.  I can get the desktop precision X to load but I wan't fan control.

    I'm on a EVGA SC17 1080 4K, and just updated BIOS to 1.05 and PXM to 1.0.9
It won't even let me change the fan curve now, unless I switch to "Custom #" on the left side.
    Am I doing something wrong?
Please help, having to change the fan settings on each boot is a huge pain.

Yeah.....annoying I know.   You apply custom profile, access fan profile, aply, and then go back to bios preset profile if you like.  The fan curve applied will stick.

Until a reboot that is.....the fan curve option is not linked to any custom profile or bios preset, so once altered it applies to all.

I can confirm that 1.0.9 is worse in this regard. The fan profile is still not remembered between restarts and now we have the extra hurdle of playing with Custom Windows Profiles in Precision X Mobile to make the fan control option even appear.

The default fan profile is not strong enough to prevent overheating shutdowns, and the profile still resets on reboot. Furthermore, the profile constantly shifts from the custom (undervolting to help prevent overheating) to normal. This is very un-newbie friendly for my wife and kids who are gaming on this and getting shutdowns from overheating. At least let us modify the default bios, but absolutely need to make fan control stick after shutdowns.

Your laptop should not be overheating and shutting down using the default product design. You should contact EVGA support about that issue.

Register the laptop (if you haven't already).
    https://www.evga.com/support/register.asp

Then, create a support ticket for the laptop overheating problem.
    https://www.evga.com/support/ticket/support.aspx

Custom fan profiles is something we use to make the laptop cooler because we are fanatics, but it should not be required. If your laptop doesn't work properly using the default fan profile, that is a problem. Maybe the default fan profile simply isn't good enough for your usage/environment; sure, I understand. But, requesting a faster default profile or better custom profile options is best done in a support ticket. This is a user-to-user forum.

Like what ty_ger07 said, certainly not normal for the machine to shutdown at stock clocks and stock fan profile.  Contact support for a RMA.

I'm having this same issue with Precision X.

It never save my setting, dont have to wait until I reboot, sometimes turning on a game would (I think) reset it too.

E.g. I turned off/on backlight manually, but when I turn on game with Precision X on (For using FULL MODE FAN), the backlight would go on by itself.
Also that I always use the "MAX FAN MODE" for game because the default setting is sooo bad (and kept on resetting after we set it up).

By the way, is it bad to always use the MAX FAN MODE when gaming?
Not all game require MAX FAN, but since the default is bad, I always do this..

I use fan boost for gaming as well since I like lower temps, especially because pascal gpus like cooler temps. I can configure custom fan profile in the unlocked Bios but I haven't found one I like so I just use fan boost.

As has been reported in the past, the fan curve configuration is built in the BIOS, can be edited, and works correctly.  Unfortunately, EVGA has disabled it in the BIOS so that it normally doesn't appear to users.

Hopefully EVGA will give users access to this handy feature.  I don't know why they haven't.  At this point, to unclock the hidden feature, you have to use AMI BIOS Configuration Program to edit the ROM; and probably void your laptop's warranty if you mess it up.

I can't even access the fan control with the custom profiles on the left, the option is still greyed out. Am I doing something wrong?

After selecting a custom profile on the left, reviewing its settings to make sure that custom profile's settings are going to be safe/stable, did you click Apply? The fan curve control should become available after you apply a custom setting.

yup, activated one of the custom profiles on the left, and then clicked apply, the popup of the profile name came up to confirm it had been applied, but fan control still greyed out :(

Hopefully they get this all sorted out soon, im a bit tired of having to reset my curve every time i restart my laptop. The default curve just keeps everything way too hot.
