If I do the paper clip test on a power supply and it only spins for a split second, is that considered bad or is that all that is is suposed to do? I have the Corsair HX1000. Thanks for the help.

yea man with your setup i would recommend 2 powersupplies or 1 big one, i use hx1000 and a tx 750 easy to setup if you have room.

It has never had a problem with the power supply because of what I have in it. I would assume that if it was too much to run, then it wouldnt run very long that way. It has fun for almost a year with no problems ever. So I think that it is fine, just went bad, hence the 5 year warranty. We shall see. It would be cool if they allowed the upgrade to there new 1200w.

I went to Corsair's Website to the PSU calculator. I put in my specs and it did say that the HX1000 was fine. WOOHOO.
Cant afford the AX1200 right now anyway.

I think some PSU's need at least a fan hooked up or something when testing them with paperclip.
That is what Corsair says anyway. Here is a video of them doing it with HX1000

+1 - you need a load on a PSU when you do the paperclip trick.  You can damage a PSU if you turn in on without even a small load.

Well the paper clip test does the same thing as it does when everything is hooked up. Nothing except spin for a split second and then cut off. Thanks for the feedback.
