Considering the 3090 is only about a 10% improvement over a 3080, how are they going to make the 3080ti fit in their lineup?

Mega happy with my FTW 3 Ultra, wont even bother stepping up to any kind of 3080 in the future since i know it wont be faster than 3090... For the extra 4-5% - not worth for me. :)

A 3080Ti would only be worth it if Nvidia switches to TSMC and makes a 7nm card
Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero | Intel Core i9-14900KF | RTX 4090 FE | 2x32GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 RAM (7200mhz) | 2x Samsung 990 Pro 4TB M.2 NVMe's for main OS and backup) | Windows 11 Pro 64-bit 23H2 |Klipsch 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos speakers + Denon AVR-X2800H Receiver | LG 42" C2 OLED | EVGA ASSOCIATE CODE: JRKV0L1B1GY3ADW

Not worth it , it will be $ 1000 and land in between the 3080 and 3090 , the Ti was never faster than the Titan class aka 3090 , there is less than 10% on average performance between the 3080 & 3090 , the 20 GB on the other hand is nice but only if you plan to keep your card for couple of years or more , I if AMD 6800xt is as fast as they claim, it will be then NVidia will come out with something so absurd and so powerful by May or June of 2021 when the upgrade from out 3080 will worth it with over 30% increase in speed , I believe history will repeat it self just like the last Time AMD was faster then Nvidia .

Other than the huge VRAM bump, I am not sure the 3090 really fits into any lineup. Price point is way too high for the improvement.

You guys are missing the point Nvidia really thought they can get away with pricing of the 3090 aka Ti for $1500 , with this new AMD release Nvidia was cough with their pants down ,now they got this Dilemma on their hands and it's all up in the air

Ti doesn't stand for titan. When people say the 3090 is titan class they aren't saying it's a Ti. The titan cards are always expensive af because they are supposed to serve as low end work card that can also play games. They are priced for a different market than To or any other gaming card. The Titan class cards are loaded with cuda which is the standard for people who use GPUs in a work or studio environment. AMD doesn't compete with nvidia in any meaningful way in this space and the 6900xt is not going to be bought by any of these people because they need the cuda cores and will pay premium for nvidia titan class card. I mean nvidia has 5 thousand dollar cards too that are really high end but they are for a different market. Nvidia is bad at the titan class marketing at least from a consumer viewpoint. It looks overpriced because they market it to a gaming market and don't include any messaging about how it's priced to be useful as a light workload card in addition to being their best performance gaming card.

That release is currently a rumor. I am worried that NVIDIA wouldn't have enough GPUs to launch a new SKU until Samsung can deliver larger amounts of the NVIDIA GPUs.

This is probably the most accurate assessment. A 3080 TI doesn't even make any sense. Though, it is obvious why they cant cut the price ont he 3090, how many people would be pisssssssssssssssssttttttttttt

Wasting Ampere architecture on Samsung 8nm (aka10++nm) is much worse than pisssss 3090 owners. Just imagine 3080 Ti on TSMC 7nm wafers. In fact that would prevent Radeon to take crown after long time.

U guys no NVIDIA does not like to be the second tier option...2 brands...and can only be one leader. NVIDIA wants that regardless of what users think.
