I notice there’s a little switch on the 3080 FTW3 Ultra. Normal and OC. I believe mine was set to normal, and the card was running fine at the factory 1800mhz. Is there a reason the switch the thing to “OC” physically on the card? Thanks.

All it does is change the fan behavior to be more aggressive

It's for the fans. And my understanding is do not change it while the PC is on. lol

I see. I actually changed the fan curve to aggressive in the Precision software, so I probably don’t need to touch the actual switch huh?

For the most part yes. I like to set my switch to OC so that if Precision crashes for whatever reason it will still use a more aggressive fan profile from bios.

Where is this switch and skins I use it? I just installed my 3080 the other day and didn't realize it had this. Been searching the internets but haven't found any pictures, etc.

Just jumping in to chat about the subject of utilizing the zero rpm fan mode vs having it at 30% idle all the time. My 2080 FE never had zero rpm mode so I guess the life span of fans are well enough that you could just have it running all the time with no worries right?

Here is a image showing where it is. Like everyone said flip it while pc is off. I didn't know that but hey they said it so someone must have had issues doing it while on.
I'd imagine because it uses a different bios. So switching while on could cause issue. This is just what I've read. I'm pretty nieve/new when it comes to PC stuff. That's for the help! Going to switch mine.
