OPTIMUS WATER BLOCK INSTALLED!!!!

Ok so here where my best air cooling on port royal. Thats all i have done testing so far,,, So on air the best I was getting was +175 GPU and +275 MEM no boost lock on 500 watt bios. Tried the XC3 bios but changed nothing on my score which led me to believe my card was throttling. GPUZ showed a high of 84C and a power draw high of 485 Watts [for port royal. I was able to hit 500+ peaks on other more demanding games so I dont feel I was power limited. My systems is threadripper 3 24 core on 4.35 all core boost (not a gaming CPU obviously, probable costs me about 200 to 300 points on 3dmark) asrock tiachi MB and dd4 at 3666 14T mem locked to 1:1 infinity fabric. So best score i ever got on a port was 13950.

So in goes Optimus!!!!

SOOOOOOOO HEAT LIMITED ON AIR!!!!!!

Mem went to +375 GPU went to +200 WITH BOOST LOCK ON.... 14547!!!!!! A 600 point Increase!@!!!!!!

So this is what i noticed. Not a good paste job on the GPU or quality paste and thermal pads when i took off the cooler. I did use liquid metal instead of kryonout. My temps max out at 40C. My power draw dropped to about 455 watts so the fans take about 12-15 watts per fan!!!! Will try the xc3 bios to see if it makes a difference since heat is out of the equation.

So bottom line.... IMO I think we are dealing with thermal throttling that keeps these cards from hitting power limits. On air i noticed throttling starting at 60C with big time throttling above 70C. And i was hitting 84C.

My card has red lips and 14 on the serial number

Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Wow!

THAT IS AN AWESOME SETUP!!!!. I'm using the 1k bios and the power is set for 650 watts. Time spy extreme sucks every watt of that. A couple hours if cyberpunk and it tops out at 51c. At 650 watts. This water block is no joke.

Not to trumpet everyone else, but that looks fantastic.  I really like the super clean setup up top and using the passthroughs to hide the tubing moving around the case.  On my first water cool build ja few months ago I did bent hard tubing and inside a Corsair 1000D.  That case is so huge you end up with some long ass runs and you can see .5 degree deviations from 90 degrees on bends, especially when you stack 4-6 pends per tube.  Super nice clean and nice.

Beautiful build! I just ordered the GPU block myself. Likely one of the first on today's batch as I was F5ing like crazy. Now comes the wild ride of waiting which can be quite the roller coaster with Optimus I hear. My question to you is what RGB strip did you stick on the block and what did you use to stick it on?

The block uses 41 LEDS, and I soldered by own power and data connector on.  I did not take the blue LED strip adhesive protector layer thingy off so that the back of the LED strip wouldn't stick to anything.  The thickness of the clear adhesive and LED strip is a perfect snug with with the armor on my Crosshair Hero VIII board.

Interesting, where'd you hear that? They still haven't responded to my email last week, or to my tweet.

I was expecting them to release at 9am their time, so I was up early to spam refresh at 7am PST.

I thought this was their first time opening orders since October.

Thanks for the info. That clear adhesive looks to be pretty permanent? 

I messed around with the adhesive a bit, and with a bit of patience, it'll come off and won't leave any sticky residue behind.  But you'll need to work at it a bit.

Hey I am looking at the optimus block for my 3090. Do you have any vram junction temps during furmark or mining?

I hit max 74 junction temps while mining eth.
