Has anyone purchased and applied this block to the FTW3 3090? I am seeing people with issues from the EK block and it honestly has me a little worried. I bought the extended warranty for the card but really don't want to have to RMA it if there is an issue with the EK block. I have both on the way but would like to see if anyone has had success with the Optimus.

Yes, I waited 6 months to get it but I have one installed on my 3090 FTW3. The quality and performance is what you'd expect from a $400 block. I also own the Alphacool one that I purchased after waiting for three months to get the Optimus (had no idea I'd be waiting another three months after that) and I can tell you that under load the Optimus keeps the core about 7 degrees cooler. But easily the most impressive thing about the Optimus (as if the core performance wasn't already mind boggling) is the backplate. I've never seen this done before but they took one of those Fuji Polythingamabobbers (can't remember the brand name) and instead of cutting each little piece to fit the VRMs and memory, etc. They cut a slab that fits the entire backside from corner to corner and then mount it and you are done. Memory temps are probably the best you can do on air with the next step up being some active cooling mechanism.

I have the optimus block. It took 7 weeks to get it. I've had the same experience as tt0ne above. Temps are what you would expect from a passive backplate with a giant thermal pad. It's super easy to put on. It's a very chonky boy at near 8 pounds so expect to support the card if not mounting it vertically.

When is the EK active coming out for 3090 FTW3? I wonder if it will outperform the optimus

I’ve been talking with a gentleman on Reddit that is on his 4th rma with optimus block
My honest advice after falling victim of this myself is just don’t do it. It’s just too risky for a part that’s so expensive and can be hard to replace.
I redeemed my service plan at the store and getting a 3090 strix and leaving it air cooled ive seen bricked strix and xc3 cards all in the same fashion as these ftw 3s like I had. Something with 3090s and water blocks is risky
My 2080ti has been soaked twice, water blocked for 2 years , and now has an acellero air cooler strapped too it and it still works
These 3090 cards are beyond sus.

That's ironic - I would give the opposite advice and say that you should run these on water because of how much heat they generate.

It's not an issue of keeping the card cool, it's an issue of people being morons taking the cards apart. It happens with every single card people want to water cool.

There are blemish blocks up for sale on Optimus' website this instant. I do not know if your order would actually be fulfilled if you buy it though, or the in stock status is just lingering. I put in a purchase, and I'll see if it goes through.

Blemish items are usually ready to ship in a few days or so. "In stock" has their manufacturing times added after you order. CPU blocks are fairly quick within a couple of weeks, the GPU blocks are 4-6 weeks. I ordered my GPU block in April and got it about 6 weeks later. The AMD CPU block took about 2 weeks from order to delivery in late May. I have been happy with my order and would buy it again without a doubt.

I'm waiting for an EK torque drain valve to get here and I'll be putting my Optimus block on my FTW3 and finally turning this custom loop on.
Block is amazing. Decided to go with their AM4 block as well since I was so pleased with the GPU block.

I picked up a blemished block from Optimus today (they are local to me, and I was able to pick it up). I have it on a 3090 FTW3 Ultra. The install was very easy, and the temps are really solid. I have 2 EK 360 Rads (one PE on the bottom and an SE on the side of an O11D XL). I am seeing 36C under full load 48C on the hotspot. VRAM temps are 72-78C depending on air flow. I set a LL120 white on the back of the card and temps went down to 66-68C under the same load. Card is pulling 420 watts and clocks are staying 1830-1865. I think most failures are due to installation or disassembly errors. I have 3 PCs that are all water blocked. A Strix 3090 and a 3070 with EK Vector blocks, and the EGVA 3090 with the Optimus block. The Strix cards have been blocked for 6 months on the 3090 (it also has the active back plate) and 5 months on the 3070.

https://optimuspc.com/ . The do ship to Germany. However, I was at their location on Friday, and they are in the process of moving into a larger facility. So their ship times are delayed, and most of their water blocks are out of stock. The indicated to me that they should be back to full production towards the end of July.

The reason I posted what I did 7 posts ago, has to do with how conditioned I am to the quick selling out of things during this time of various computer component shortages. When I went to Optimus' site on Friday to buy the block, I thought there would be a mad scram to buy a small amount of blocks at noon Eastern, and to get one, you would have to be quick. As it turns out, no, it is not an F5 game; when Optimus opens the FTW3 blocks up for purchase (which for regular stock, is like a pre-order, because it ships in 4-6 weeks.) the purchases stay open for most of the day. There was no need to rush. My reaction was added to because I bought a blemish block. I would thought there was only one of those, and so I couldn't believe I was able to buy it. It turns out that they had a whole production run they were not satisfied with, so the block I bought truly existed. The block arrived today. It was a copper block, as apposed to the nickel ones they are selling as main stock, and it is beautiful. The obvious question is what the blemish was, and I am not actually sure. There are no blemishes in the acrylic. What I did notice, was there were imperfections in the micro fins on the right side of the jet plate like structure if the block is oriented such that the ampere text is in the upper left. It is subtle. It appears as if that 20% off was essentially a gift. The thing is heavy of course. There are Lian Li anti-sag brackets at my nearest microcenter, and only there. The gas to drive there will be twice as much in price as the bracket. I am trying to fit this into a Lancool II Mesh with 120x360x60 mm radiator in the front with push pull on the top two sections. The card will bisect the entire case, so I have to fit my D5 pump (EK packaging) entirely underneath it. This way the 3 slot air cooler will not even fit in there, and I will have to dismount the pump and have it dangle awkwardly to test and benchmark the card on air. Then, with EKs mounting bracket (I could jimmy up a custom one.), if measured correctly, the top of the pump mount is exactly the height the block will stick down, so the bock will sit exactly on the pump making a accidental anti-sag support. It is like using USB type A cable (oh, I hate that cable) to retain a graphics card, except not as bad. My FTW3 3090 to put it on will not be shipped until Monday, according to EVGA. (It is a step-up, they have to inspect and test my old 3060.) Then the 'fun' starts.

ecfisher - I really liked the Lancool 2 mesh case. If I didn't go with a larger gpu and overall build I would have stayed with that case. It has excellent thermals and airflow options. I used it more than a few builds I did for others and various owners really liked the thermals and couldn't believe how cool their pc was running. I wish they would have enlarged the case to allow 360mm rads on the top and the bottom. I would have bought that case for sure, but since I wanted a larger case to accommodate multiple 360mm rads and additional vertical space I went for the O11XL for my upgrade. For your build, you might want to consider running the pump where the hard drive cage is located if you are not using it. I know space is an issue, but that was something I was thinking about. Congrats on your Optimus block, it does weigh a ton but I'm sure you are going to like it very much.

Has anybody ordered the 3090 ftw3 block from the uk, if so how did everything go?. Out of all the 3090 ftw3 blocks I have looked at online the Optimus block stands out as the best, I would like this block for my new build.

If you order from UK (or europe) they will ship the block, you will get an email from UPS asking you to pay the import taxes + handling due and then they will deliver the shipment to you. In total shipping from the States to the UK took 4 days for me.

This block won't fit a regular O11D horizontally.
I had to sell mine and go with an XL version. And since it has more room, I'm probably gonna mount it vertically so I can stare at the beautiful block.
