Insane point production and that is without every member folding for reasons that may be out of their control or any other reason.

Just crazy how much we helped the folding projects along and I look forward to next year to double or triple our output.

You know I wonder what would happen if you tried to speedhack the folding client with like... Cheat engine for example.

Probably would mess up the WU or something but it'd be so funny if it worked.

I'm kinda ticked off that two evgaites passed me by while I'm folding for the CC and there's a butt load of people coming up behind me including Sinsear (31k), SimC33 (14k), and s7icky (38k). Yeah, I'm calling you out! (Disclaimer: the small points I'm posting is from my GFs computer which has a 9800gt that I didn't convert over to the CC... sorry.)

Well, that explains why we did so badly.

For the rest of the post... I only lost ~7 places so far. I expected more of a drop

I left 2 lightweight laptops on mine.  About 200PPD for 50w combined power draw.  Everything else was active, though I've been backing off some due to heat.

I think that if next year the rules dont change we should make our own competition, EVGA vs CC, i mean try to outproduce the total CC points generated... That would be a good challenge for us.

that's kind of what I was thinking in my post in Afterburner's thread. You know, what if we beat the number 1 and number 2 CC teams in total points? that would be a cool challenge and do a lot of good work for Pande Group / the folding community.

We just hit 113,432,824 and we have 16hrs left in CC.  The competing team members are already saying that the EVGApes put up one hell of a number on the board for being the Team that was never gonna win the overall Challenge.  The number itself and the dedication of the Team to stay the course even when it was clear we would never take the win, is well...legend.  You guys did great and it has been a pleasure as always to Fold with you!!

PS:  See you at the finish line tomorrow!!

Re:One hell of a handicap! 2011/05/16 08:17:54 (permalink)
*** I am writing this as a participant. Not a MOD...

Now that this is behind us. Let us look at this shall we?

Basically for us to have even tied for first we needed to produce 294,777,204 points (Actually it is 294,795,054= 2,189,018 = 1 Chimp Point times 134.67 point winner achieved, used reverse math and it created the difference). ***Looks at 20,172,002 daily avg as of this moment, times 10 (For ten days of production) = 201,720,020... For a required increase of 93,057,184.

This means.. That not ONLY did every single producer for EVGA need to put their PPD into this competition. We needed to ADD 9,305,718 PPD to the mix!!! And with our team averaging 16,453.5 PPD per producer.. We only needed to ADD 565.5 new folders to the mix that would avg those numbers.

Now exactly how was this going to be possible?

I'm disadvantaged in 2 ways, and likely won't launch by any time soon because of them.

One reason is power.  100A service, non-upgradable is not enough.

The other reason is time.  I fold 12 hours because I can't run 24/7.  I've been leaving laptops on, but they're not 24/7 rigs.  The desktop's too loud and any GPU's in my room keep me up.

Worst part is that summer heat affects what I can and can't turn on.  I can't go all out like I did in CC with every system I could find a plug for running.  Even with the 'cooler' weather of 80F, I had it up to 105F in here and everything suffered from it.

But, I'll get there eventually.  One day I'll have to assemble a water-cooled -bigadv farm.

Now exactly how was this going to be possible?

Which is why we (or any other team that participates in CC 2012) would need to have time (well ahead of the contest) so the proper "analysis" of any handicap could be performed.

What was the thing that I kept reading about some Teams having "multiple captains"?  Was that actually a factor in the voting that took place?  I mean, did some Teams have multiple Captains who each had a vote?  I'm just wondering because I never did quite understand that one.  If a Team had multiple Captains, but only one vote per Team, then that is reasonable and probably smart to have those extra Captains.  The way that the multiple Captains thing has been mentioned, it almost sounded like someone was concerned about it is why I ask.

I can see how we would need multiple captains to gather info and feedback from the forums into a digestible piece for our voting captain . . . But no, other teams didn't have more than one captain in the final vote, as I understand.  Barbarrossa would be the one to ask, however, as he was our rep with access to the CC Captain board.
