Ive had my first/current Volvo 96' 850 Wagon over a year now, and still love the Wagon, never thought Id love a Wagon. Here's my(when I first got her) 96 850 Wagon, not my kitty Ive been wanting a 2nd car, a Volvo "68-75" 164, wiki pic, or, a Volvo "74-93" 240/244, wiki pic, Found this video, And still want a 60's Ford or Chevy Truck, wiki pic, I know alot of us have different attitudes when it comes to old school vs newer school, and no different with cars and trucks. And I never will finance a car/truck, cash only. Any Volvo, drifters, old schoolers or something eles?

When I was in school I drove a 57 Ford Fairlane 500 and it actually had automatic transmission but it sucked up gas.

I'd never drive a wagon. I want to get a project car when I get a better paying job, My choices are between these 2 : 1971 Chevrolet Nova SS 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS I want to build it, Enjoy it for around 6 months or so and let my dad have it. He's always told me about his mistake selling his nova and chevelle back in the days, Probably not SS but if I'm going to spend money and time building a car, I'm going to do it right.

Speaking of old trucks, I used to have a '77 Chevy C10 stepside pickup as a project. It had a 4 barrel 350 V8, 3sp auto, and towing gears (yes unfortunately topped out at 70mph), and dual straight pipes back to Flowmasters (no emissions in my state or older vehicles). It was a great truck and kinda wished I still had it (except for the gas mileage being horrific). It looked almost exactly like this one except it needed a new paint job...

Common misconception that older cars are terrible on gas, granted you aren't seeing things in the 40's, but low to mid 20's was not very hard to find. Mostly carb tuning was a learning curve, and frankly the learning curve was WAY steeper on the Rochester/Edelbrock style carbs that are the needle and seat valves. Granted they can do VERY well when tuned properly, but they required really understanding their insides a lot better. I am a classic muscle fan and always will be. Not to say I do not have respect for modern advancements. There are +'s and -'s for both. Myself, if I had to pick some, I am hesitant to speak my love of old Chargers, as the Fast and Furious movies really put them in public eye, but I loved them LONG before that, its just an awesome car. Here are a couple of my favorites. 1965/1966 (only difference is trim and a couple engine options) Galaxie, I saw a convertible AFX it was beautiful car, and they are big and roomy, im a big guy, I like the elbow room. Also, this is a Galaxie variant, I would LOVE to have a 1961 Starliner Unfortunately, most of the pics are getting blocked here. However if you Google them I think we can agree that they are pretty nice old muscle cars, and the top pic with the Teardrop or AFX hood with the NY plates on it, my Uncle actually helped spec out, so I have seen a ton of pictures of that car, which really is a monster. I am not much of a GM fan, there are some I like, but in general not my thing. However HP and Torque is HP and Torque, no matter how you slice it, or what manufacturer it comes from. @Blacksapphire my buddy had one of those trucks, I think the truck hated him, as it was obsessed with dying over STUPID things. But I can say it was solid. It was slightly lifted when he got it as well as tall tires, when he was in high school, he got in an accident with that. Apparently a lowered Honda, I think civic ran a red and the truck ran it over, all it did was lose a tail light and a TON of bondo lol. His brother told me it felt like a big speed bump. He had the LOOOOOOW gears too, terrible mileage due to the final drive being so low, but it would climb a telephone pole if he could get traction.

I recently acquired a 1970 International 1200D. 3 speed, also capped at 70 mph. Needs plenty of work. Here's a generic image from the internet for now.

It's the V8, not entirely sure which one (I think it's the 345 [5.7L]). There's a lot of rust everywhere. I've already begun rust converting the interior floor and added temporary carpets from a Nissan Armada. This truck will need a lot of work, but I plan to keep it.

If that stock V8 is gone, Id just put a Chevy/Ford V8, aftermarket Tany and Ford rearend. And if its 4x4? That could be fun! And if ya had the cash, time and a good shop and access to a dyno, Ford I6 with a single turbo, but thats alot of homework, fuel system updated, and time...

The engine runs, there's two leaks I got to figure out. However, I've driven it for about 20-25 miles on the highway back and forth so far and it runs pretty good. I remember seeing 4x4 on one of the registration papers, but not exactly sure. I'll have to look under for a transfer case later. The engine compartment does have rust. For now the budget is extremely tight. I need to get a few things done on the bmw first. I haven't had much time to play with the truck yet. I've been working 11 hours daily, but I'll hopefully be off this Monday-Thursday so I'll get to fully play with it.

If it is a 4x4 that's salvageable, and ur on a tight budget, for sure see if the longblock and drivertrain is worth restoring. Is the truck Carb'd?

I love the 75 Celica Mustangs, I want to someday buy a shell and build it from the ground up and add in either a weber'd 2jzge high compression engine or a carb'd (obviously custom) 1uz to keep it old school with no mess of wires and electronics.

I looked for some older Celicas when the wife and I got married "2000" and couldnt find any worth restoring. What was Toyota's I4 Turbo engine? Im thinking those used em in the RWD Carollas.

Oh my, what a beauty......this is a gorgeous car. I had a 1976 Celica GT with a 5-speed. I loved that car. I got it when I turned 15 in 1991 for $300. It had 3 bald tires and none of the tires matched, it had no exhaust system past the manifold, and the hood hinges were seized. I had rebuild the motor, installed a new clutch, new shocks, brakes and rubber by the time I got my license a year later. I drove that thing so much, what a blast it was. Webber carbs, header, full exhaust with a glass pack cherry bomb.......oh my that car was probably the most fun I have ever had. Stupidly I sold it for $2,500 3 years later. Talk about rare, I haven't seen one for at least 10 years on the road.

I prefer new school. I like technology and the advancements in motors and gear boxes. I just picked up a 2013 Ram Sport with all the goodies, and I love that it has 2 LCDs..., a 7 inch in the gauge cluster, and an 8.4 inch touch screen. 395 HP with an 8 speed tranny..., yes please. Out with the old (2010), in with the new. What a beauty. Give me tech. :D I was pretty set on getting a new Challenger at one point, but I do know that they're replacing it with the Barracuda in the next few years, so I'm waiting to see how that turns out. The 2015 Mustang is also on the list. To each their own though. I understand the charm and appeal of old cars, I grew up in a 1969 Hemi Roadrunner..., but I simply like new stuff. Justin
